In Windchill 10.1 we are experiencing the screen jumping while users are in the folders. If they run a search, the results appear and when they go to click on a particular file the screen jumps which means that they are sometimes clicking on the incorrect file.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this a refresh issue specific to Windchill? How do we resolve this?

I’m looking for some guidance on implementing change control for CAD objects in WC 10.1.

I don’t have much experience on the CAD side of Windchill and was hoping that someone has traveled this path already.

My goal is to place the CAD files associated with the Specifications documents all together (with the part objects in the near future) on the same Change Request and have Windchill set the state once approved!

Currently, once the CR is ready to close the CAD group is notified and someone just manually sets the state or up-rev’s the files.

We are using Creo Parametric 2.0 and Solidworks 2013.

How are the CAD objects associated? .prt and .drw? Is there a parent / child relationship?

Is there a system preference that keeps all the related CAD objects organized?

If Creo is creating these CAD objects, does Windchill need to have an OIR for them? Wondering how to define the states for the CAD objects.

On the invoice I only see "Intralink with connect module" and "Intralink with multi-site", we have been using intralink for about a year and I was wondering how is windchill/intralink supposed to know if we have cad workers? I am lost on how to set this up and I cannot find a reasonable intall guide. All of them just assume you have the creo view adapters installed (which I can't seem to find)

My next question is, does windchill come with any worker agents out of the box? Is there a guide on how to set this up? Ive only seen guides on how to add cad workers, not install them. We are running Windchill 10.0 currently.

Why Import/Export manager doesn't support comments(Check-in)..?

If I export a WTPart having some check-in comment(Displayed in history tab). If I import the exported jar to other server it doesn't bring comments.

SO what should be done to bring comments along with object in Jar...?

To All,

We have been experiencing issues with ghosts objects for quite some time now and PTC does not appear to have any idea how to resolve them. Point is the "Autoresolve" check box on the second checkin screen simply does not work. Also, we have come up with quite a few work arounds here @ Atlas for handling them (temporarily). We use "Reference Viewer" to break dependencies if possible. Have a 12 step process (custom) which fools Windchill into allowing the checkin even if ghost is present (does not permanately remove association. Also, sometimes (<5%) the autoresolve works if "ignore in the future" is checked. Very rare.

I am asking for other feedback in the community related to these spectors of frustration. Does anyone else have any other methods or techniques with dealing with them? Please share.

When I want to specify an exposure time that is shorter than the flight time in an SAE fault tree. Do I divide the time by flight time, or 1 hour.

Ex. my exposure time is 3 minutes, my Flight Time is specified as 2.14 as in hours.

So is the Exposure time = to 3/60 or 3/(2.14*60)

Hi all,

I've recently installed an monolithic instance of Windchill 10.1 M040 (SQL Server) and have spent several weeks tailoring it to our requirements, testing workflows & lifecycles document uploads, check ins & outs and so far everything's working well. However, I've just noticed that when I interogate the "Server Status" the report states the following;

File Servers: 0 available; 1 Unavailable

and the bottom of the report states;

https://<our winchill domain name>/Windchill/servlet/WindchillGW

master

SITE NOT RESPONDING

I can ping the server without any issues.

Can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong?

Generate partnumber based on attribute selection

Hey Gurus',

I have created a part wizard having bought-out / inhouse , plate thickness, customer type, plate series as the attributes.

Now on selection of the above attributes, it should auto generate the partnumber with the last 5 digit as the running sequence.

for example, the attribute selection is as follows:

in-house (2), 5mm (50, international (3), 234, running sequence (6789)

so it should generate the partnumber as 2532346789.

Any ideas?

Publish existing WTParts through load file

We have WTParts which are associated with distribution targets and need to publish these parts through load file.We are using Windchill 10

Below is the procedure we followed to customize this.

1. Made changes to the \Windchill\loadFiles\csvmapfile.txt file as below.

EndWTPart~create~wt.part.LoadPart.endCreateWTPart~publishFlag,parentContainerPath

2. Added the required DTD elements to the \Windchill\codebase\registry\ixb\dtds\standardX24.dtd\csvmapfile.dtd and generate the runtime

validation DTD through the wt.load.util.UpdateEditDTDUtility.

Sharing Documents to ProjectLink

How can we ensure that documents “SHARED” to a project from PDMLink , does not get updated when the document undergoes a change in the PDMLink.

I would update the dcoument share in PJL manually when needed.

I cannot use PDM Check-out since I don’t want the supplier to modify the content or check-out the data. Also PDMCheckout results in the part being locked out in PDMLink since it is actually "checked out" !

Hi, all.

I need to use SequenceGenerator for WTPart in java code.

I have tried setNumber(SequenceGenerator.generateValue("WTPARTID_seq")) but result was not i expected to see.

Now i am trying setNumber(SequenceGenerator.generateValue("{GEN:wt.enterprise.SequenceGenerator:WTPARTID_seq:10:0}")) but it throws SQLServerException: Index 1 out of range.

Can anyone give me working sample?
