- Does anyone know if Pro/E allows a user to add an old revision/iteration of a .prt to an assembly? I have been able to add rev. A of a part that is at rev. B in Windchill. Is there a way to select which version of a part in the assembly?

deleting wt part from database
How to delete wtpart from database? I have deleted this 100-100-110 wtpart number from GUI. While renaming 100-100-220 by 100-100-110 giving error. Number is not unique. In GUI if I search for wtPart by 100-100-110 it is not searching. I need to delete from database. Can any one suggest me solution for this..

Searching Using Solr Query Language

The company i work for has recently switched to Windchill 10.0 and I have discovered the advanced search option using solr query language syntax in the keyword field. I have never used solr before and was wondering if there was an easy way to determine the searchable fields. As of now, i have only found two; name: and number:
Searching other fields such as version or context give a bad request error.

Importing Documents (PDFs) into PDM Essentials
We have been using WindChill PGM Essentials now for a few months. I cannot seem to figure out how to upload/import non CAD files into common space. This software is supposed to be able to complete this task.
Can you tell me what I'm missing? I have tried the import under actions and the PDFs are not supported. I have tried to drag and drop them. I have tried this from a workspace and as the admin using a browser. I am at a lose here and I have hundreds of PDFs of released drawings that need to be imported for tracking and so that mutliple versions don't start popping up.

Creo View preview is Blank in Windchill
We recently began using Windchill PDM Essentails. Previews previously worked with Product View Express but you could not mark up the files when opened in Product Express. I have installed Creo View using the software downloads in the quick links tab. Now with Creo View Lite installed the previews in Windchill are black, and the "Open in Creo View" does not work either. Please help!
PS: I installed the 32 bit version on my 64 bit CPU. Couldn't find a 64 bit for download.

Reliability Block Diagram confusing results
We are having trouble duplcating the Windchill Quality Solutions RBD calculations. We have tried a simple problem and the tool calculation is different then the hand calculations.
We have a 2 of 3 parallel operating block with an individual MTBF of 1000 for each of the items placed in seires with a block with an mtbf of 500.
Goal was to verify effective system MTBF.
Hand methods show answer as 312.5, but RBD results are at 350. We've looked at all the setups and parameters and can't determine why it is different.
Anyone else experieinced similar results not matchiing hand calculations like this ?

Editable textfield in TreeConfig
Hi.
I have created wizard having tree as a step. Tree has WTDocuments as root nodes and WTParts as second level nodes.
I need to add editable field in wtPart row to specify number of parts.
I cann't find any examples in customization guide but only few words "you can write a wrapper class extending from NmObject and override getOid() method to return proper NmOid."
A created wrapper for my tree nodes, but all i see now is empty tree.
Can anyone give me sample code for same problem?
I have used AbstractComponentBuilder as ComponentBuilder for my tree and TreeHandlerAdapter to provide data.

Is windchill capable of managing NX/CAE Data? (*.prt, _i.prt, *.fem, *.sim)
Curious if anyone out there (1) manages NX CAD data via Windchill and if so (2) if Windchill is able to manage NX's CAE Data? In particular, the relationships between the files: *.prt -> *_i.prt -> *.fem -> *.sim
Also, if you manage NX Data, what has been your exerience and/or lessons learned? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Create STL file in Windchill
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a simple way to create an STL file in Windchill. Specifically, a Windchill customer is looking to be able to send models from Windchill to a 3D printer queue. Currently their queue software requires the models to be an stl format. I am wondering if anyone has some tips on how to convert Creo and/or SolidWorks files to STL as an automated process. One option might be to use the publishing process, but the OOTB process does not support STL as an output type.
Any idea to help me along?

Windchill usability and workflow compared to Intralink 3.4
Good day!
We recently made the plunge from wildfire and Intralink 3.4 into Creo and Windchill 10.0. 3.4 was cumbersome and counterintuitive, but at least it was predictible!
We are doing our best to adapt, but after over a year we are still plagued with longer design cycle times and more difficult CAD data management than before. There is no problem with the Creo software - it is on most accounts an improvement over the previous software. Windchill is a different beast. Any gains we have realized in design cycle time have been obliterated by the lumbering interface and buggy nature of Windchill.
We can't be the only ones. We are running about 25 seats of Parametric and 1 of Simulate.
I am sure companies like John Deere wouldn't accept a performance reduction, so how did they deal with it?
An example is that copying older assemblies to modify into a new one is nowhere near as robust as the previous procedure. It is often much faster to model the new assembly from scratch, or use the copy functionality in Creo and abandon the drawings. If the copy function in Creo would copy drawings with assemblies we could avoid the Windchill dialogue entirely.
What is the general opinion on the board with Windchill vs 3.4? Are we just a bunch of whiners?
Most of the guys here are experiencing a Pro/HEADACHE.
