I know I can export from Windchill under Actions/Export List to File/Export List to XLSX. This only exports any subfolder names and any files in that current directory. Is there a way to do a mass export to include the files in the subfolders without having to go into each individual folder and export the data from those folders??

Windchill workflow activity rename
I'm in Workflow Administrator (Windchill 9.1) trying to update one of our workflows. We need to have some of the Activity tasks renamed. I have edited the name in the General Tab, saved the workflow, checked it back in, imported it, etc. But when I run the workflow its still using the older Activity task name, even though when I open the workflow it has the new name there. What am I missing? Sorry I'm new to editing the workflows? Is a server restart required? It seems like a simple thing, yet it's not working?
providing files to outside parties / suppliers
Interesting meetings here lately.
In general, we supply files (native CAD and/or STEP/IGES, etc.) to outside parties as email attachments if small, or via Box or Drop Box or equiv if larger. There is interest in allowing outside parties to access these and download directly from Windchill - now discussing options, etc.
Interested in what others have done / are doing related to this.
A few possibly approaches:
- use Windchill Projects, possibly one per outside party; add neutral files / possibly share CAD data to the project, maybe subscribe the outside parties to a folder in the project
- use Windchill packages (possibly too much complexity though)
- other?

Customize collection toolbar per user??
Hello.
I was wondering if anyone had any interest in reducing the number of "collector" controls in Windchill actions? I recently had to use a tool that showed me this toolbar:
As a CAD user, I primarily need to use this set of controls:
My customization reduced the total number of icons from 32 to 8.
I realize that other users would find some of the icons that I have excluded useful (and find some that I have included not useful); but it seems unlikely that any one user needs all 32 icons.
There are no Product Idea asking for an enhancement to allow user or role based customization of the collector toolbar. Any interest? If not, how do you have other workarounds?

CAD Documents - Tips on how to only set and show File Name
Are you setting CAD Document Number, Name and File Name all to the same value?
Let's use this discussion forum to document your techniques to simplify this for the user.
I am including a proposal below.
PROPOSAL 1:
- File Name is NOT generated (since deliverables, flexible components, etc.) usually use some part of Part number/name. For example spring.prt, spring.drw, spring.mfg, spring_expanded.prt, etc.
- Keep all other identifiers driven by File Name (9.1 or 10.0)
- Use OIRs to drive Number and Name from File name (see attached)
- Use server-side preferences to prevent File Name from being driven by Name or Number in New CAD Document, Save As and Rename
- Use OIRs to drive Number and Name from File name (see attached)
- Use Windchill 10.0 Type and Attribute Administrator to remove Number and Name from Layouts of UIs:
- CAD Document Information Page
- New CAD Document UI
- CAD Document Information Page
- Use Table Displays to remove Number and Name from Tabular UIs (9.1 or 10.0):
- Workspace Listing
- Check In
- etc.

- Users can continue to refine tables using Windchill 10.0 Table Controls to hide unwanted columns:
- Users can click on the column headers, choose the black down arrow, "Columns"
- User can show/hide any currently shown columns this way. The current display will be "sticky" until s/he changes it again (even after closing the browser and restarting a new session).

SolidWorks dxf scale issue on publish
Hello all,
We're running 10.2 M030 and have customization to create .pdf and .dxf as Attachments to the drawing EPMDocument on publish.
The created attachment .dxf scaling is according to the sheet sizing when it should be 1:1. On the visualization server the SW Export setting was initially wrong, but enabling Scale output 1:1 did not help, ie. we tested that if just setting this correct with the user running the worker would fix the issue. A .slddrw was opened on the server, exported as .dxf with scaling 1:1 enabled and resulting .dxf was ok when opened. Assumption was that once Enable is selected it is then the default for the user running SW.
So the question is which setting does the worker look for when creating .dxf?

I am having PDMLink setup with multiple organization. It is very difficult to know under which organization we are currently. Is there any way to find under which organization the container(Product, Liberary,etc.) is created from the detail page of the container?
I know it is possible to get the details from the policy administration, But it is tedious.
Please let me know if there is any doubts;

To create a part, or not create a part with Windchill 10.0 auto-associate
The auto-associate command in Windchill's CAD integrations is an easy way to relate CAD documents to existing parts or create new parts to facilitate the creation of CAD driven product structure. However, there exist cases where not all CAD models represent an actual part and part number from a BoM perspective (for certain object types such as skeleton parts these get filtered automatically). But for general models it is not so easy until Windchill 10.0. Check out the new site preference "Part Structure Override Attribute Name" located under Operation > Auto-Associate. this new preference allows you to specify a boolean attribute name that auto-associate will look for on each CAD document and depending on its value auto-associate will either try to create/relate to a part, or will simply skip it. give it a try.

How to restrict OOTB document creation in create document wizard?
How to change WTDocument to use a different lifecycle that starts with a state that people don’t have permission to use OOTB. In that case it would just be a new OIR for the WTDocument. The affect we want is to remove “Document” from the dropdown of documents user can create.
Setting the default value for the OOTB WTPart attributes via OIR
Can you tell me how I can set the default value for the OOTB WTPart attributes (End Item, Assembly Mode, Source, etc.) via OIR? We would like to set different default values across context.
Use case:
We have a library for purchased component. These parts should have a default value of Buy for Source. We manage our own products in product containers where the default value for Source should be Make.
Windchill 11 with Multiple Oracle instace
Hi All,
I have installed a split PDMLink installation with Oracele 12c standard in one machine and WC Pdmlink 11 in an another machine.
Now I would like to install another windchill installation using the existing oracle installation.
Can you please some one tell what I should do?
1. Use the existing oracle instance and create a new user
. User the existing oracle installation and create a new database and a new user.
From the Instalation document I came to know that windchill with single Database instance with Multiple Windchill schema is not supported.

How to enter Due Date in a Change Activity?
So we currently use Change Management in Windchill to manage our engineering changes, and have noticed that there appears to be a date field in the change activity that never gets filled out. I am curious as to what this date field is for and how to get it to populate with data? (See attached screenshot for details.)

Where to create Access Control Rules? Context or Org?
I am in the middle of creating some access control rules and have the following questions for everyone:
- What are your best practices and considerations when creating Access Control Rules?
- At what level do you create them, context or org?
- What considerations do you make when creating them?
My first inclination is to create them as high up the structure as it makes sense. In this particular case I want a set of rules for a custom role called ENG Admin. Think of a Library Manager or Product Manager permissions but only for WTParts and CAD / EPM Docs. Since it would seemingly apply to every Product and a lot of Libraries, my thought was to create it at the ORG level.
I look forward to seeing what the group comes up with.
