Windchill 10.3 (X-26)

Not sure if it will move, but the PTC Product Calendar now is listing a release target for the next version of Windchill.

I'm also starting to see support documents discussing Creo Parametric 4.0.  I wonder if maybe that will be released around the same time...

 

In some ways it's kind of funny.  We are finally getting ready to jump from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 3.0.  Maybe we should wait a little longer and just go from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 5.0.  Of course by then it will probably have it's name changed again.

Hi Experts,

 

     I am trying to reload an mvc table in custom wizard with two steps. The desired table is in the second step. Is there a way to reload/refresh it whenever the "next" button is clicked.

Windchill version mismatch master vs file server while setting up new File Server

 

Steps followed:

1.Downloaded the zip files from file server management

2.Extracted all Zip files.

3.Installed using PSI.

Note: While Installing PTC Solution Installer not recognizing the Third Party Software. Resolved as per document CS31488

 

Looks like this issue related to M010 CPS05 Patch. any idea?

Windchill Workflow Templates - Publish at certain points

Good Morning all,

 

As you can see from below this is my current promotion request.

 

At the areas circled in red I would like the workflow to re publish the file (will only ever be .asm .prt or .drw)

 

The reason being is that the workflow changes the state and on our standard border displays the state.

Prioritize wvs publishing from workflow actions?

Hello,

 

Is it possible to configure publishing to prioritize workflow created publishing jobs to vs publishing jobs from a checkin?

 

Example,

User checks in a large assembly (3000 parts, assemblies, drawings), and it takes 2 hours to create viewables.

User 2 forces publishing on a document , it is put in the next available slot (existing functionality, once the current job is done, user created jobs are handled first come-first serve)

User 3 completes a promotion request, or change notice and a new viewable is created...

 

Can actions like user 3's be given publishing priority?

under Windchill 8, I have problem with Report manager, when I want to create a new report.

When I want to select object, I haven't the full list of object (of my model)  but only a part of the list.

Could you indicate me How Winchill buld this list ?

In PDMLink 10, how can I get a BOM which includes the drawings?

We have a need to create a view and export it of a BOM which includes the drawings for the components. It was possible in PDMLInk 9.1 but we are now on 10.0 and soon going to 10.2. It appears that this in not possible now in the Structure tab.

Has this been lost, or moved, or is it a customization that needs to be done. Maybe it is a setting. I am lost and would like to see if anyone else has done this?

Is there any other feature similar to "Subscribe" to get email notifications about specific objects in Windchill 9.1?

we have configured Windchill such that we don't have the "Subscribe" function available in our installation, so can we get email notification with any other such feature in WC 9.1?

Explicit Attributes with Creo and Windchill

I'm trying to understand if explicit attributes initially flow from Windchill into the Creo model. It seems that this is the case. Also, does identifying uppercase Creo parameter in the "Creo" field of a specific attribute (via Type Manager) make that attribute explicit?

Choose from multiple lists for CR review

In our CR process, we have a field that allows us to select multiple functional lists of people to reviewa CR. Some CRs may require 1 group and others may require 3 or 4 groups. We have currently implemented it with all groups getting the email for approval for the next step. We would like to modify the workflow so it will only send email notices to the members of the required functional groups.

Is this possible and if so, does anyone have sample code for the workflow that they can share?

 

We are on 10.0 M040 at the moment but planning on moving to 10.2 M030 by the end of the year.

Cloning a Windchill v9.0 Virtual Machine

We have a problem with our Production Windchill installation which I am unable to replicate on our Test Installation.  Windchill is currently installed on a Windows 2003 Virtual Machine and the Oracle database on a separate server.  Does anyone know or has anybody successfully managed to take a copy of  a Winchill Virtual Machine, change the Host Name, IP Address, etc and get Winchill up and running?  I would change any references in all the Windchill files to use the new Host name and new database also.  This would hopefully then give me an installation which I can replicate the initial problem on.   Do you think this is possible?

Does anyone know how to make "No Content" default for some wtDocuments, and have a template automatically selected for others?

We have a number of wtDocuments that require "No Content" & others that require a template to be selected. Our users continually make the mistake of not selecting the template, and complain why we can't make "No Content" as a default for documents.

Workflows giving Nullpointer error for unknown reason 10.2 M020

While developing workflows we are running into an issue where the workflow fails to clear a step. The step shows executed, but when we look into the actual step we find a null-pointer error. In Checking the method server we find the following error:

We cannot figure out why it would be throwing this error, we have checked all the code in the workflow and it is working.  We can get it to run on our development server but when we move to production the workflow fails.  The expression robots clearly exist in the workflow, could this be a server communication issue?

How do I quickly get contents of a CN into a workspace?

I have a Change Notice (CN) with many parts attached to it that require modifications. How do I quickly get these parts into my workspace?

 

My current process is to print the full list of parts attached to the CN and then sequentially search for each item and individually add it to my workspace. This is very time consuming so is there a way to bring an CN (content of) straight into a workspace?

 

The way I see it, all the parts are already collected and attached to the CN so this should be a very simple task

PTC Windchill Creo part Check-in issue

I am attempting to check in parts in Windchill, that were made in creo and uploaded to the windchill server.  The saving and uploading works fine, and the parts will appear in the windchill workspace.  However, once there, I cannot get them checked in.  All recent attempts have resulted in a failed check-in, along with a response that reads "Operation failed because the user did not have the necessary permission on the following objects to perform the operation: CAD Part  - prt001.prt, 1.1" and

"Operation failed because the user did not have the necessary permission on the following objects to perform the operation: Shared Cabinet - Default"

As far as I know, I have been given all admin rights needed to check in creo parts.  Is anyone familiar with this issue?

Query Builder Reports - returning Latest Revision

For this call: 7745852, "One can select Latest Iteration by enter a constant=1 for the criteria to get the latest Iteration. How does one do so for only the latest Revision?" 

I got this answer: "Please note that it’s not possible to query the report using Report Manager to show Latest Revision.
For Latest iteration we have the flag set in database (i.e. constant=1) but there is no such field for Revisions as the latest revision in UI is picked up from the Revision sequence file in use."

Anyone have a work-around to get just the latest REVISION?

Strange groups in WTGroup Table.

Experts, I was working on a code for fetching WTGroups and I saw some strange values being returned by the code. On checking the DB I saw weird group names in the database as well. These groups are not present in the UI. Any idea what these are? I also wrote a query builder report to query all WTGroups. It also returns the same.ScreenShot035.jpgScreenShot036.jpg

PTC's Take on MDM & PIM

With the increasing public discussions and growth of Master Data Management (MDM) and Product Information Management (PIM) topics as an overarching data management solution (PLM combined with ERP, CRM, SCM, LDAP, etc) has anyone heard PTC make a statement on how they may be addressing or growing Windchill with this?

Note, I've also Windchill as growing towards the capability of complete enterprise data management, but have never heard a decisive strategy from PTC.
