Windchill 10.3 (X-26)

Not sure if it will move, but the PTC Product Calendar now is listing a release target for the next version of Windchill.

I'm also starting to see support documents discussing Creo Parametric 4.0.  I wonder if maybe that will be released around the same time...

 

In some ways it's kind of funny.  We are finally getting ready to jump from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 3.0.  Maybe we should wait a little longer and just go from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 5.0.  Of course by then it will probably have it's name changed again.

We are upgrading our system from Windchill 10.2 M010 to M030 and we would like to exchange experience with users that already done it with the goals to mitigate risks in this process through specification, tests and etc.

 

Our main concerns are integration, customization and parameters that already done in the system.

How do I set revision of imported legacy cad data to the "current revision", say Rev B.2 for example?

I have legacy data from Pro IntraLink that I want to import into Windchil PDM Essentials.

 

However, most of the legacy data is not at Rev A.1.

 

So how do I import the legacy data and set at a revision higher than Rev A.1...say Rev B.2 for example.

where are my favorites in Windchill 10?

Hello.  I have searched in help within Windchill 10 and online but cannot seem to find where my Favorites end up when I follow the fairly simple process as depicted below:

I am in Windchill only, not Creo and would like to know where my favorites end up so I can see them.

 

Any ideas?

Can you set the WindChill "add to workspace" command to load a data set 'as stored' except for family table parts, which should be added as 'latest'?

I am in a unique situation where this feature would be significantly helpful. I am unable to add two assemblies (a sub-assembly and top level assembly) into my workspace. The easiest solution to my question is to load an assembly, then update any out of date table parts to latest from my workspace, but for some reason this causes an incompatibility error (which is not override-able) with the next assembly I add to my workspace.

 

This happens with several assemblies in my database and I am almost positive it is caused by incompatible versions of the same family table parts.

My company requires a legal splash screen (big brother is watching you) for any software tools that requires an account and a login.

 

Is there a feature for the WQS Admin to create a custom screen that comes up before login, during login, or just after login?

Windchill Workflow Templates - Publish at certain points

Good Morning all,

 

As you can see from below this is my current promotion request.

 

At the areas circled in red I would like the workflow to re publish the file (will only ever be .asm .prt or .drw)

 

The reason being is that the workflow changes the state and on our standard border displays the state.

We are a captive mold and stamping shop that has grown steadily over the years. It has become more and more difficult to manage all the components that we are producing for a tool build.  We are looking into shop floor management software.  I was wondering if there is anyone out there that would like to share the good or bad experiences they have had implementing ERP and recommend any systems.

When I want to select object, I haven't the full list of object (of my model)  but only a part of the list.

Could you indicate me How Winchill buld this list ?

However, I can not see objects that I created , but I can see others already existing .

Can you tell me if there is a parameter or attribute to specify in modeling statement or a properties file to update ?

Hook into OIR Upload Process

I want to fire off some processes when a new OIR is Uploaded/Imported.

 

Is there any documentation that details what files or tables are impacted by this process?

 

My current strategy is to look for new rules in the table or file and then fire off my processes.  Is there a better way of handling this scenario?

Document sub type object contains comma separated values from mapped WT part iterations

Hi, currently we map an attribute called PlannerNumber between Document sub type (called ISIR) and WT part. An ISIR object is associated to WT part.

The problem is that the ISIR PlannerNumber attribute value somehow contains all the WT part version values separated with "," characters. This is invaluable to us since we only want latest PlannerNumber in the ISIR document subtype.

For example: if WT part PlannerNumber attribute had the folowing values assigned in the iterations as follows:

 

WT PART Number                         Version                      PlannerNumber

BN123456                                        A.1                                   100

BN123456                                        A.2                                   200

BN123456                                        A.3(Latest)                       300


Then the Latest version of attached ISIR object will have PlannerNumber field as "100,200,300"

We would like the ISIR object associated to the BN123456 WT part to contain only the latest value eg. "300"

Applet not loading in Workgroup manager

Hey guys,

     I've been mucking with this for a day or so now. I installed the workgroup manager for Windchill 10.1, and everything was fine. I believe this started after I installed Creo View.

It gets this far, and then stops loading. The pinwheel in the center keeps spinning, but I can't access anything further. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all PTC products, and I deleted the entire PTC folder in Appdata/Roaming. Everything actually runs fine with regards to saving/opening files from windchill in Solidworks. (the DTI is also working fine, although my guess is that doesn't matter). It's not a huge deal, the applet still runs on chrome. I'm just the type of person that this sort of thing annoys to no end.

Any thoughts?

Default to Latest Released configuration during Checkout

I’m sure we can’t be the first folks running into this.  I’ve searched the archives, but not been able to find anything thus far.

 

We have a requirement driving us to look at the default configuration or filter during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

 

We are looking to default these actions to Latest Released data (or In Work if no version has been Released), there are 2 preferences that look hopeful in this cause, but sadly the value options do not provide this functionality.

 

Preferences:                                                               Values:

 

Set Configuration for Add to Workspace                   Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

Set Configuration for Check Out                                Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

There are also some default configuration filters (Latest/Baseline/Promotion Request/Baseline), but these too do not provide Latest Released.

 

The only way we have found, it to create a configuration filter, which can specify to first retrieve Latest Released, then Latest In Work (or whichever states are required).  However, there does not seem to be any option during Add to Workspace or Checkout for either saving this configuration filter to use again, or to set it as the default to use every time.

 

From the structure page on a checked in object, there IS the option to Save a configuration filter, but these do not show up during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

 

Windchill 10.2 M020.

CMS Diagnostics error rss.cgi?chankey=pubmednews is missing

We are working in Windchill 10.1 and Arbortext Editor 6.1. When trying to check in an object the user receives the above CMS diagnostic error. We noticed that the object has a [+] beside its name in the AE browser window. I believe this means the object is saved to the user's local cache. Is there a way to identify the object and retrieve the most recent version to check it into Windchill?

Automatically start Change Activity sub-type

I'm looking for a way to have my Change Notice workflow automatically fire off a Change Activity sub-type at a certain point in the workflow.

 

It doesn't feel that outlandish when I walk through it. Is this even remotely possible?

 

It's pretty easy to manually create multiple change activities with different sub-types within a single Change Notice but I'm trying to streamline as much as I can.
