Default to Latest Released configuration during Checkout

I’m sure we can’t be the first folks running into this.  I’ve searched the archives, but not been able to find anything thus far.

 

We have a requirement driving us to look at the default configuration or filter during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

 

We are looking to default these actions to Latest Released data (or In Work if no version has been Released), there are 2 preferences that look hopeful in this cause, but sadly the value options do not provide this functionality.

 

Preferences:                                                               Values:

 

Set Configuration for Add to Workspace                   Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

Set Configuration for Check Out                                Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

There are also some default configuration filters (Latest/Baseline/Promotion Request/Baseline), but these too do not provide Latest Released.

 

The only way we have found, it to create a configuration filter, which can specify to first retrieve Latest Released, then Latest In Work (or whichever states are required).  However, there does not seem to be any option during Add to Workspace or Checkout for either saving this configuration filter to use again, or to set it as the default to use every time.

 

From the structure page on a checked in object, there IS the option to Save a configuration filter, but these do not show up during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

How to add Role in the Team

TeamHelper.service.addRolePrincipalMap(roleTarget, principalRef.getPrincipal(), team );

How to properly run the wt.Load.LoadFromFile utility from a server external to the Windchill server?

I am trying to run a Windows PowerShell script to auto-create a document within our Windchill system (we are running Windchill 10.1 M050), but I am having difficulty getting the script to run properly. I get errors saying that it cannot run the Java executable. Is this a permissions issue? What permissions are needed for a server to run scripts on a different server like this? Below is a copy of the PowerShell script that I am using (for the server-to-server communication, I replaced the drive letter with the shared server directories) -- it works when running within PowerShell on the Windchill server itself but won't work when trying to run from an external server.

 

D:\ptc\Windchill_10.0\Windchill\bin\windchill wt.load.LoadFromFile -d D:\partnumberimports\TEST1234DOC.xml -u [username]  -p [password] -CONT_PATH "/wt.inf.container.OrgContainer=IntelliServ/wt.inf.library.WTLibrary=_AvailableForUse_1"

How can I delete parent child relationships in Windchill/Creo 2.0

I created a simple assembly for checking purposes and a permanent reference was attached to the child even though I deleted that child from the parent assembly.  I can't get rid of the assembly from my workspace.  Please help.

WTpart subtype assigning while check in

How do I assign the sub Type of the WTPart that the EPMDocument will create and associate during Checkin? One way is to use a subtype of the epmdocument itself and assign "Default part type to Create", but I dont want to take this option. Kindly pour in your thoughts.

 

Iam using Windchill 10.2 with Creo 2.0.

 

For some assemblies , when checked in, i want to create Part subtype A, while for some other assemblies I want to create Part type B.

There is a clear rule for this on what conditions Part Subtype A or B should be created, but there seems to be no direct way to specify (as an attribute ).

Are there any preferences?

Softtyping of Configurable Links

Did anyone succeeded to deploy softtypes of configurable links?

 

Our VAR setup configurable links (master, reference, describe) on our Windchill test environment.  We are able to use them, including additional attributes on the link.  But when I add additional softtypes to e.g. the master configurable link, I don't find the possibility to use it while creating a new link instance.  I can't find an entry to define OIR's on configurable links, what confirms that the implementation is not quiet finished yet.

New CAD Document start part

When creating a New CAD Document, the field Template Name has two choices, neither of which is my start part.  How do I get my start part as a selection in that field?

I want to add a table column to "My Task" - previous workflow task owner

I have tried to create a table view which would include a column for the previous workflow task owner. It would be helpful for users to see who has completed the task before them. I tried a few things under the "customization" option of the table view, however, I can't find a list item that describes the previous task owner.  Note: "Modified By" is not helpful as there are not always changes made to the object before it reaches the next task. It can be deceptive. I have also chosen "predecessor", however, this column is always blank so I'm not quite sure what this item is supposed to list. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is anyone using any type of archive solution with your Windchill implementation?  Would be interested in any application or process that remotely resembles an archive solution.  PTC's Archive Server is no longer available for purchase.

Is it possible to configure a dedicated method server in WC 9.1 for certain operations ?

say for example, you you have a WC server with 1 background MS and 3 foreground MS and you need one of those method servers to just handle requests or actions that are come from within Creo/Pro-E. Since the CAD actions have the "epm" text in the url, it is possible to direct all such request to the dedicated MS while the remaining 2 method servers can handle any other non-cad operations/actions.

My company requires a legal splash screen (big brother is watching you) for any software tools that requires an account and a login.

 

Is there a feature for the WQS Admin to create a custom screen that comes up before login, during login, or just after login?

Windchill vs competition

Hello everyone,


I am wondering if any one of you have benchmarked Windchill against Teamcenter and/or PLM360 from Autodesk.


I know that there are many aspects to consider and what can be good for one company may not be suitable for another one. However, as I have worked with Windchill for over 8 years now, I would like to stay with this software in my new company and therefore try to ensure we select Windchill.


We will soon consider those 3 solutions. So if you have (not too old) information about those software and why Windchill is better this will help my case ;)

A new member of a group is not able to view existing running workflow tasks

The issue we are having is that I created a new member to a group. All the workflow tasks that were assigned to this group (previous to the new member) are visible to everyone except for the new member. The new member can, however, see new workflow tasks that have been started since the member was added to the group. My question is this...How can the new member see the older workflow tasks? Note: Currently we are re-assigning the older tasks to the new member, however, this is very time consuming (over 200 tasks).

Discussion forums in PDMLink

Hello,

 

while PTC made some efforts to improve the discussion pages in PDMLink 10.x  it is far to be as efficient, nice to use, user friendly etc... than for instance the forum of the ptcusercommunity.

 

It does not appear that complicated to integrate in Windchill nice discussion forum.  In the past I was told that PTC was not going to make much effort because they have the Social tool and wanted to promote it (and sale it) rather improving the pdmlink discussion forum. While this makes sense in a way.  I do not hear much about that tool these days.

 

I am therefore wondering what PTC strategy is.  In the past I had some hard time and not alwas successed to get the users use the discussion forum rather than sending emails. One of the reasons is that user did not like it. while most of them were using all sort of specilized discussion forum. Therefore it was not that they did not like discussion forum, they just did not like the old style, low functionalities discussion forum of PDMLink.

 

As a consequence. what are my options ?

  1. Ask a programmer to customize PDMLink and make the discussion forum be eg like the one of ptcusercommunity ?
  2. Train my users that I do not need all those fancy buttons and layout and the PDMLink discussion forums does the job
  3. Wait for PTC to finally put some development into it
  4. Buy PTC Social (whatever name it is/was) or third party software and integrate ?

 

How do you make your users collaborate by using the discussion forum in PDMLink ?

ProjectLink: team members cannot cut and paste between folders?

We are currently on Windchill 10.1 m040 and are using ProjectLink, and in one Project no team member can cut from the main folder and paste into a sub-folder.  This is all within the same project.  No error message is given, but the paste window just says "Loading...." until canceled.  It is the same with a single object or multiple objects.  Objects being cut and pasted are CAD / EPM documents.

 

I have tested other projects with the same conditions and it works in those projects, so it seems like just this single project.

 

Anyone run into this before?

After rework,workflow is stuck-Windchill 10.2

Hi,

 

I have a workflow where I get the group name that user belongs to .

I create the group name in organization and add in codebase/ext/group.properties file.

Later based on group,reviewer name is selected.Process works fine for Approval

But for rework,after Rework ,process is stuck.

 

Appreciate anyone can help on this.Have attached workflow and group.properties.file
