Missing descriptor

To all,

 

We are doing testing on Creo3 and Windchill 10.2. When we make a change and try to check it in, not upload, in some cases we have a failure. In the event manager window, if we go to the conflict management information we get the following:

 

Under the Description it says "Missing descriptor"

 

Initially we were using IE8 as our embedded browser, so we change to chrome. The problem went away for me, but someone today was testing, made a change and tried to check the part in, again not upload, and he got this conflict now. I had set him up for the embedded browser to be chrome before we even did anything. But for some reason, he was not able to successfully check in a change.

 

Any help as to what this means would be helpful.

Automatic patching of remote file servers

We are about to install some remote file servers. I see PTC has configured Windchill to automatically patch remote file servers.  This is enabled from this property:       

 

wt.intersvrcom.autoManageCCS=true

 

                

When the master server is patched, soon after that the patch files are copied to the remote servers, and are automatically installed.  After reading up on this feature, I'm not sure this is what we want to do.  It seems complicated and a little risky.  I think we'd rather do the patching manually.  

 

Has anyone had any expericence with this ?   Do you let it patch automatically, or do you disable that property by setting it to FALSE ?

How to prevent multiple change notices on the same version of a Part/CAD Doc?

Hey...

 

Does anyone know of a method to prevent multiple change notices being created for the same version of a WTPart or CAD Document?

 

For example.

 

  • I have a WTPart, CAD Model, and Drawing for part 12345 version 2.5
  • A change request and change notice for one issue gets written against that set of data at that version.
  • The change notice is still in process when... Days later, a second change request and change notice without knowledge of the first change notice, is written for a different issue, against the same version of the objects as the first.

 

 

Two questions:

  1. How do you handle such a situation?
  2. Can it be prevented in the software?

pvsthumb.exe crashed error

Hi!

 

When I import WTParts with the representations files or when the visualization is going on I have the window with the pvsthumb.exe crashed error. Anybody know how to solve this problem?

How to add relationship to the *.drw file with *.pdf?

Hello everyone!

 

This is my first discussion subject, so be patient with me. 

 

     I would like to add relationship to the *.drw file with *.pdf made of it.

 

For example:

     I create in my workspace pdf from drw drawing. I want that pdf follows after drw wherever it goes.

In old version it can be set manually by add it in Reference. Now I have Pro Intralink 10.2 and that option is not allowed.

 

How can I add Reference? Is there any way to set it automatically?

Windchill Upgradation from 10.1 M010 to 10.2 M020

Dear All,

 

I'm trying to upgrade windchill from 10.1 M010 to 10.2 M020 in my test server.

 

For that I've followed below steps.

 

  • I've set up source system in which windchill PDM link 10.1 M010 installed.

 

  • Installed required patches for this.

 

  • Exported LDAP and Database(Oracle 11g).

 

  • Later, I've set Target system for upgradation.

 

  • Note : Here source and target systems are on same machine.

 

  • Performed WINDU in source and got results in successfull.

 

  • After, installed 10.2 M020 in target system through PSI.

 

  • Note : Here, used existed database while installing.

 

  • After successfully installed 10.2, imported LDAP  successfully from Source to target.

 

Now, I'm trying to perform UpgradeManager task but facing error at Database path phase . I'ts asking Oracle schema user and role name and I'ven't set them while installing. So, I manually created these two and granted all permissions. But, tit shows that these valuese are not properly considering by UpgradeManager.

 

I'm performing Windchill Upgradation for the firs time.

 

Request you to please guide me to overcome this problem.

How to host and configure windchill slave with master server

Hi,

 

I have hosted the master server successfully and copied the installation folder with the directory structure maintained to the slave server. After this, I do not know how to proceed. I have gone through some of the windchill clustering documents but didn't helped me lot.

 

Please help me with the steps and settings to host the slave server. This will really going to be valueadd for me.

Document Workflow

I have a Doc Workflow that works great, but I have one small issue.  If a user revises this document which takes it back to Inwork state the workflow starts again....is there a setting to only run the workflow once or do I need to disallow revise for this type? Note: once the doc reaches released it will NEVER change.

Add a Custom Attribute to a specific task in Workflow

Is there an easy way to add a custom attribute only to a specific task in a workflow?  For example, in the OOTB Change Notice workflow there is an Audit task.  How would I add an attribute to this task only?

Desktop Integration (DTI) and Citrix

Has anyone successfully installed Desktop Integration (DTI) on a Citrix server?  We have installed it but it's not pushing to the user profile when they log in.  I was assuming that the registry keys placed into HKLM would propagate into the user session but they aren't.  Thanks!

Update Windchill WT part structure with CAD document structure

To all,

 

I am trying to figure out how to get a Windchill WT part structure to update to what the Creo CAD document is, after it is checked in. I can get the CAD document to match the WT part, by doing the compare in the structure tab, then performing the build operation.

 

What I can't seem to figure out, is how to get the Windchill structure to update to the CAD structure after it is checked in. Most times as a designer, I will work in Creo, make my changes to an assembly and check it in. Then I want the Windchill structure to match and am having a hard time finding out how in the compare and build to get that to work.

 

I am attaching some screen shots of one example to show the compare window. It shows the CAD document with two files having a minus sign, and if I do the build, it will remove them from the CAD document, when I check it out and open it.

 

I have looked in the "Using Creo Parametric with Windchill (Windchill 10.1 M050)" and found a section "Managing part-CAD Document Relationships" that goes through this, but I can't seem to get the update of the Windchill part structure to the CAD document structure to work.

 

Any help on this would be appreciated as we are getting ready to go-live with Windchill and Creo in a week.

Can we do an direct update from Windchill pdmlink M050 to pdmlink M070 or do we need to move from Windchill pdmlink M050 to pdmlink M060 and then move from Windchill pdmlink M060 to pdmlink M070 ?

Creo Publishing Issue

Hi all,

 

I import creo files in windchill thru creo.

After the Import and checkin the publishing/thumbnail is not working. What I need to do is to checkout the file and custom checkin and choose models and viewable so that the publishing/thumbnail worked.

The problem is the revision add even I didn’t change/modify anything just the custom checkin. Is there a way to import creo files in windchill and the publishing/thumbnail worked?

How to install CPS on existing Windchill 10.2 installation in Linux?

Hello Folks!

 

Does anyone happen to know how to install a CPS onto an already installed Windchill 10.2 system hosted in a Linix vmware.

Steps I have done so far is to get all installation media onto my /tmp folder according to below:

Fist step was to chmod all files and folder recursively using chmod -R 755 *

However when running setup.sh the installer does not recognize that I have already installed Windchill.

I believe this is the key to make the installer aware of my existing solution so it can light up "Update Existing Solution".

Now I can only select "Solution" under "Install Type Options".

Anyone happens to know how to accomplish this?

 

I have also tried to launch "setup" under "PTC_Windchill_10.2_Service_Pack" but that script only produces:

ERROR: Cannot locate installer_jres directory in CD root: /tmp/MED-61006-CD-102_M020_M020-CPS06-Bundle/PTC_Windchill_10.2_Service_Pack

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good moring,

I am looking to get together with some folks that are using packages to understand how they are using them? Specifically, how are you conveying the linkage between parts and documents when using a package whether it is the static manifest or the offline html viewer.  Would appreciate any info.

Exporting a Product's Task List to an xlx Format

Does anybody know how to export a list of tasks from a Product/Library directly to an xls spreadsheet? I am only able to do this with Action Items. Is there a setting that I need to correct?

How do you create a new user from an existing in 10.x?

In Windchill 9.1 and earlier, you were able to create similar users by creating the new user from an option called "like user" in the user information page.

 

Where has that functionality gone in 10.x?
