The prior admin created a custom entry screen for Change Request information but left no documentation as to where it was located or what he actually did. I tried searching for some text in the form, but found nothing. Does someone know where a modofoed form may be stored in Windchill? This was done at V9 and been migrated to 9.1, then rehosted to 10.0. The upgrade manager found the file because it did make it to the V10 server.

What is Common Base or CommonPDM
We are getting close to beginning our installation of Windchill 10.2 M020. We are currently at Windchill 10.1 M040. I noticed that Common Base was in the PDMLink downloads. The only information I have been able to find on it was through the version.xml
Does anyone have any information as to what Common Base or CommonPDM is and/or what its function is?

Error in Creating user in windchill.
Hi,
I created some 3-4 users in windchill by using following procedure:
- Windchill Administrator Login> Site> Utilities.
- Principal Administrator> New User> Created User Profile> Click OK.
But when I tried to add the users in Product teams, those users were not available in search list. Although these entities are present in Windchill Directory Server Control Pannel.
So I deleted those users & once again tried to create them, but now I am getti an error "Username is not Unique".
I am unable to find the cause of both 1) Why users were not available in search list? 2) Why user is not getiing created again?

Setting Date Effectivity on bulk data is consuming lot of time
Currently working on a data-migration project where Legacy ERP data needs to be loaded as WTPart.
Created WTParts and the Structures using data dump.
Now trying to set Date Effectivity on the loaded parts with respect to the Parent Parts.
Have developed an utility with the help of PTC case CS59121 to load Data effectivity on bulk data.

While loading the Effectivity came to see that some WTParts are being used as BOM Components under n number of BOM Assemblies(WTParts).
It almost took 1 hour to update 170 objects.

Removing files from workspace fails
To all,
I am doing some testing of Windchill and Creo3, and have a question I hope someone can answer for me.
I checked out into my workspace some files. I am looking to REMOVE them from the workspace, but it is giving me a failure. I only have 3684 objects in my workspace, but the message I am getting in the Conflict Manager window (from the Event Manager information) is this:
- The returned query result has exceeded the query limit, and only 100,000 results returned
I am not sure why I am getting this, when I am only trying to remove approximately 3700 files.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Please help me to write an info engine task that could fetch the metadata of an attribute on a subtype. I am new to info*engine architecture.
I am using Windchill 10.2 M020 for PDM and CEM module. I have a subtype of "Customer Experience" object. I have defined an attribute "SourceSystem" on this subtype.
I am trying to fetch the constriants, default values etc.. for this attribute.

How can I get the email address of the administrator in Windchill ?
I have a java method that will send an email when dxf creation failes but how I can get the email address of the administrator configurated at Windchill ?
I hardcoded the email address now but it should be better if the java class does not need adaption when the administrator should ever change.

OIR default string value
Hi,
I'm trying to learn how to set up OIRs and I ran into a problem.
I'm setting up a Part subtype, Vendor Part, with a standard soft attribute acme.vendor.VendorPartComment as a multi-line string. I want the new part wizard to display "No comments yet." by default.
Currently, my OIR for the Vendor Part contains the following pertaining to the comments:

I'm using the same logic for the part name, and the wizard is displaying a default name correctly, but not this comment. The only difference between the two that I see is that the comment is displayed as a multi-line string vs a single-line string for the name.
Furthermore, the "No comments yet." appears after I create a vendor part, just not in the creation wizard.
Any suggestions?

Creo Publishing Issue
Hi all,
I import creo files in windchill thru creo.
After the Import and checkin the publishing/thumbnail is not working. What I need to do is to checkout the file and custom checkin and choose models and viewable so that the publishing/thumbnail worked.
The problem is the revision add even I didn’t change/modify anything just the custom checkin. Is there a way to import creo files in windchill and the publishing/thumbnail worked?

Conditions to create WTPart on CAD part auto create and associate
Hi Experts,
I am building CAD driven product structure.
I have enabled auto create and Auto associate of WTPart when CAD object is checked in.
I want to create condition for WTPart creation [by auto creation] based on the attribute/object type from the CAD assembly.
- If the CAD object is Generic – Skip creating the WTPart
- If the CAD object has the attribute “BOM” with value “No” – Skip creating the WTPart
- If the CAD object has the attribute “COMP” with value “No” – Create Gathering Part instead of WTPart.
Let me know the possibility to achieve this.

- Attribute level conditions ?
- Customisation ?

Add Preference for user to select font size in Windchill
OOTB does not have function or setting to allow user to change the font size and it is fixed. the work around is to set the font size from browser which it also change other website too.
It is better to have a preference so user can change to from preference management.

GUI validation on an IBA attribute value.
- I have defined an IBA attribute of type string.
- Added this to a "package" object in PDMLink/ProjectLInk 9.1
- When i create a package , i can see this attribute in GUI and can enter a string value.
- My requirement is to validate the string value entered using some validation logic through some java code and if the validation is passed then only submit the package for creation otherwise return back saying the error message.
Any idea how can i do this validation on an IBA attribute.

Creo hangs on Retrieval Window after Crash
Hello all,
We are running Creo 1.0 M050 w/ Windchill 10.0 M030.
After Creo crashes, I restart the application and it will then hang on the "Retrieval" Window ("Creo Parametric was not closed properly...Click retrieve or continue"). I am pretty sure it has to do with Windchill - in particular two lines in my config file. I know this because if I remove these lines from the config, Creo will not hang on the retrieval window upon startup.
The config file lines in question are:
pro_format_dir wtpub://Windchill/Libraries/Library/Formats
start_model_dir wtpub://Windchill/Libraries/Library/Formats
If I start Creo after a legitimate shutdown (not after a crash), everything loads just fine with no hangs.
Any ideas?

Business Rules - How to create your own?
Having been through the available documentation on Business Rules (including Customizer's Guide) I still do not have a clear picture of how (or why) one would go about implementing Custom Business Rules. From what I can see the XML that is described configures the (two or three) available Business Rules that come with the install. So what if you want different ones, different logic or evaluating IBA's?
I suspect that one would create custom Business Rules classes that build on the out-of-the-box, and I expected to find information on which API's to use and some guidance on best practice. I looked in the Help Center and in the Customizer's Guide, but no luck. If I'm into Customized Business Rules anyway, why wouldn't I just use Expression Robots and/or Custom classes? Where can I find more detailed information? Are there additional Business Rules planned for future releases?

How to change a user password in batch
