Setting access control policies for objects within a change notice?

Hi all,

 

Admin I and II role is currently assigned to a manager, who would like to first approve the change request then reassign the "raise change notice" task to a Heavy_User, but currently no one else has permission to "create a change notice". I can reassign the "create change notice" task when logged in as Admin I and add the assignee to the Admin I and II role for the specific change, but without "create" permissions they get an error message to contact the administrator when they try to create a new change notice.

 

In the policy administration I can further give the Heavy_User "create" permission when the object is at "Implementation" state, which half fixes the problem, but is not the ideal solution. Can anyone tell me how to go about creating access policies for objects that are part of a change request / change notice specifically? We also want to allow the Heavy_User to revise parts when actioning a "create change notice" task, which again is currently only permittable by Admin II. (So we want to revise parts that are "Released" state, but only if they are part of a change notice). Maybe this scenario is not possible? If so I would like to rule it out, as I have been asked to not add any other users to the Admin I and II role, so have been looking at ways to make this particular workflow possible through policy administration.

 

I am new to policy administration so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ghost Files with Autodesk Inventor Data

Hi All,

 

We are transferring our PDM system from Adept to Windchill. We use Autodesk Inventor. I have been able to get almost all of our part files into the system through the import to workspace function. When I started working on assemblies, I noticed there are a ton of ghost objects imported with the assemblies, even if I tell it to not bring any dependent parts with it. Is there anyway I can check in the data with the ghost files? Alot of the data was broken to begin with and we arent even sure if the data is being use on our present models. It could very much so be old data that no one uses anymore and we dont want to waste time going through it if we dont need to. The plan is if anyone does need to use it, they can fix it in Windchill themselves (odds are, if they are going to use it, they probably designed it to begin with and will be able to fix it alot quicker than I).

Sending parameter through from UI to the bean

Hi!

Sometimes I need to send some value from UI to the bean that will handle this value. As I Inderstand I can do it through commandBean. For example I can set parameter to the request: request.addParameter("par1", "val1"). But when I want to get it in formProcessor like request.getParameter("par1") I get null value.

 

What is wrong? Thanks!

Office 32bit with DTI 64 bit Issue

All,

We have 64 bit Win 7 pro machines but our IT want us to run 32 bit MS Office 2010.  When we install DTI it has to be 64bit because of the OS

Has anyone seen issues such as word closing down with an error or Windows Explorer closing down unexpectedly?

 

We have seen this on a couple machines now so am now delaying rolling out DTI until we can fix this

Explicit Attributes with Creo and Windchill

I'm trying to understand if explicit attributes initially flow from Windchill into the Creo model. It seems that this is the case. Also, does identifying uppercase Creo parameter in the "Creo" field of a specific attribute (via Type Manager) make that attribute explicit?

Having issue the Windchill ("Unable to invoke remote method")

We are having issue running any page, which require Java. Though the page is appearing, some functionalities in the page are not working and the page throws error after a while. Following is the error we're getting. Any help ?

Method Server Fails to Start after Update from Windchill 10.1 M040 to Windchill 10.1 M050

Hi All,

 

Today, i have sucessfully update Windchill 10.1, from 10.1M040 to Windchill 10.1M050.

 

When, i start the Windchill, method server was not up.

 

MS Log file is in attachment.

 

Please help us to solve this.

How to add custom action in Product Structure Browser?

Hi,

 

I am unable to add custom actions in Product Structure Explorer (Windchill 10.2). I do not see any error in Method Server as well.

 

I could not find this information in PTC Customization document.

 

Can any one help in this regard.

authorization for creating a promotion request ???

Hi everybody,

 

I do not succeed in creating a promotion request. New promotion request windows does open, but a pop-up 'you don't have autorization...' opens simultaneously...

 

Can someone provide a summary of required permissions / role / template to define?

 

By the way, I'm running Windchill Essential.  I hope this causes no limitation regarding promotion request's ???

CAD Worker as a VM?

Hey there...

 

I have done a quick search and could not find a definitive answer.   Can you create a VM for the CAD Worker?   Or does it require a physical machine with graphics card?

'workspace being modified by another user' issue

We have aproduct ising UG NX8 as the CAD system, and we have a couple of users nwo who have workspace that we cannot do anything with. Each time an operation is tried we get an error along the lines of : 'Baseline "wt.epm.workspaces.EPMCheckpoint:538508458" is currently being modified by another user".

 

We cannot even delete the workspace when logged in as site admin.

 

We are using Windchill 10.1 M040

 

Have tried all the workarounds as suggested in the knowledgebase btu so far no luck and have a suport call open. Anyone got nay ideas?

fixed URL path to Primary File or details page for LMS Training?

Greetings,

Anyone know a way to modify the URL path so that it always points to the latest version of a document?

 

Background: We are using PDMLink 10.1 but still need to place a copy of the Released file in LiveLink so that the SAP Learning Management app can pick up the latest version. Doc Control just writes over the file in LiveLink each time so the path doesn't change.

 

I would like to get away from using LiveLink but I need a constant URL path for SAP.

This would also be helpful when listing controlled documents on an internal web page (sharePoint), then have the text of the document number linked so that the user would be sent to the current highest version. Access controls in WC would control what state the user could see.

Creo Simulate License problem

Hi, i am a company user of Creo2.0 with floating license.  I am trying to configure the Creo Simulate with reconfigure.exe which in folder C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 2.0\Simulate\bin, but in "Licenses"tab all the fields are not editable, I can't fill in anything into theses fields. A screenshot of this is shown below. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks.

Hi All,

 

I was exploring the objects link at db level. Is there any procedure or way/Utility get entity relationship links at db level.Need

guidance to understand.Kindly share your Ideas.

 

Example:

 

                    How "WTPART", WTDOCUMENT" "WTPartDescribeLink" tables are related in DB,  which columns of part & document table  has been mapped to WTPartDescribeLink table.

Finding original name of renamed file

Is there a method to find or have Windchill capture the original name of a renamed file? If we create a part, 1000307.prt with number 1000307, use it in 10 assemblies and then decide to use the vendor's name. We rename 1000307.prt to loc-246.prt with number LOC-246. The assemblies will load loc-246 instead of 1000307, so that is good. Now management wants to see which parts used 1000307. As far as I can tell and get from Windchill is nothing if I search on 1000307. If I know that the new number is loc-246, I can get the where used and show the assemblies, but still no reference exists between 1000307 and loc-246. Is there a table in Windchill that might have this information?

Wizard step validator

Hi.

I defined afterVK validator for my wizard step (extends DefaultUIComponentValidator).

I have 2 questions i cann't find answers for in customization guide.

 

1) Validator works in both ways (Back and Next). I need it to work only when moving forward. How to disable it for "Back" button?

 

2) If i have an error while validation process, i show it at pop-up window by specifying UIValidationFeedbackMsg for UIValidationResult. How should i define UIValidationResult to disable pop-up if a i have no error. I have no error - i don't want show anything for user. But now pop-up window with NULL message arises.
