Cache corruption due to multiple WC login

$

Current last line in proe1.psf is

ENV=PTC_WF_ROOT=C:\PTC\%USERNAME%\PDM_WF_Client

What would the %USERNAME% be to reflect the Windchill user login?

As a WC admin it is a problem when sometimes you need to login to WC within Pro/E as orgadmin and other times as your actual user account.  Would like a way to setup the .psf file so it creates the cache folder based on WC login and NOT the Windows login name.

Replication Server issues (and hi from a new user!)

Hi there!  My name is Francis Mason, I'm a new System Admin working with Windchill 9.0 in an AIX environment.  Proud to be part of the new Engineering nerd community :-)

I am currently building a Windows server as a replication server for a site in Germany.  I have gone through all the procedures to install and configure the components and I'm verifying the build before I convert Apache/Tomcat and the Method Server applications into Windows services.  I'm looking at the logs and can see the following errors which I would like to get rid of before I create the services.  Can anyone help a newbie in distress?  I've put the error parts of the logs below but I've also attached the log files.

hi,

how to copy EPMDocument from one windchill instance located in office_no_01 to

another windchill instance located in office_no_02 through LAN.

I able to access windchill instance in office_no_02 from office_no_01 and vice versa.

Is there any way that we can copy or import EPMDocument, Documents from one Windchill

Instance to another.

Thank you

We are having production Windchill 9.1 server on Source mahcine using Oracle 10g which is on Database machine. The dbuser is wcadmin/wcadmin.

I am cloning it to another machine called Target machine. But I need to use same Database for Target Windchill also.

How to achieve this without distubing the Source Production server?

can i create a new dbuser like wcadmin_clone/wcadmin_clone and import the dump of Source dbuser wcadmin/wcadmin in it? If yes How?

Annotations and representations problems in CreoView 2.0 M030

Hello!

I’ve got some problems with annotations and representations in CreoView2.0 M030, Windchill 10.1 M020. You may be able to help me, or give some advice?

1)      Annotations in CreoView
If I want to keep some markups into two, or more than two PDF documents and then save them, Creo View show this error:

image001.png

2)      Copy annotations forward

This option is set to TRUEmarkup.allowcopyforward.default. But it must be able to view all the comments on the document from the latest iteration. Reviewers will not look the history of document changes and seek comments on the iterations.
Maybe we could save representations and open them in CreoView?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Creo View

We are looking to get a program that our Tech. Publications can use to get different views of Parts and Assemblies for the Manuals.

I was looking at using Creo View for this but apparently you can't connect Creo View to Windchill.

So does anyone know what I can use to connect to Windchill and view our Cad Documents? I don't want to have to purchase a full blown Creo License for this simple task.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Customizing the "new promotion request" window

Hi.

I'd like to add a checkbox to the "new promotion request window", how does one go about doing this ?

The checkbox itself should set a boolean attribute in a promotion workflow.

I've read through the customization guide and ive got the impression that this could possibly be done by editing *actionmodel.xml/*actions.xml files, but i cant seem to find the right one.

"publishing rules" samples for visualization...please? SolidWorks if possible?

Hello,

would anyone have any publishrules.xml files they could share? I am trying to configure our CAD Workers and am struggling to find good examples...samples for any CAD "authoring application" will be helpful, so please post if you can. We are using solidworks, so any rules files involving the publishing of solidworks files to creo view, PDF, STEP would be even more helpful!

Thanks!

Using Eclipse

Documentation 10_MR040_WindchillCustomizationGuide.pdf   on page 51 it shows project cust_Windchill_src in Eclipse. In order to load that project in you must follow directions from   ant -f bin/tools.xml eclipse_project.help     I followed these directions. Step 1) Run the eclipse_project task   is too vague. I can get the cust_Windchill_src   folder into the project window of Eclipse, but I have no supporting libraries or src folders.  Can anyone explain what "run the eclipse_project task" actually means?  I put in Filesync, but I am not sure it is working.  Thanks.

Using ModelCheck to automatically add/designate parameters at check in or save

I was told by PTC modelchecker will not automatically add parameters using the save mode and you have to select the update button in the report screen, unlike the interactive mode which just does it.

We are using Windchill and I would like a way to force modelchecker to automatically add/designate parameters upon checkin or during a save without any user interaction and just happen behind the scenes.

I have modelchecker setup to do what i want interactively but not familiar with the gateway thing and if this will accomplish what i want.

Any info anyone could provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Invalid characters in ldap group names: users not allowed to log in

We are currently testing the upgrade from PDMLink 9.1 to 10.1 with a full integration to the company ldap.

Here we see a major problem for us:

It is not allowed to have fwd / in group names that the users in PDMLink are member of. The characters are allowed in ldap but not in PDMLink.

The groups containing the / are not used in PDMLink, but we use other AD groups to control assignments to roles.

This problem means, that we are not able to move to 10.x as the ldap integration is broken.

Do any of you see the same problem in 10.x and have you found a work around for this?

More info:

-Issue is not related to usernames we create, but to information in the MS AD pulled by Windchill

-The problem is not seen in user names (have not seen fwd / in user names so far)

-The problem has been detected for users that are member of groups where fwd/ is part of the group dn.

-We cannot control which groups a user is member of – nor the name of the group

-We rely on access to MS AD groups in the setup of Windchill

-The groups in MS AD with fwd/ has an escape \ before the fwd/

-Is it part of the LDAP v3 standard to allow fwd/ if escaped with \.

-we ran windu and it crashes at the part with the / group

Automatically Set WC to Make Drawing Param = Model Param

I want Windchill to set a drawing parameter equal to the model parameter used in the drawing.  As example, when a drawing is checked in I want WC to modify a drawing parameter (BOM_DESCRIPTION) = main model in the drawing parameter (BOM_DESCRIPTION).

How do we do this?

Thanks.

How can I dynamically control display of menu items in Windchill?

Hello,

I am developing a custom application for Windchill 10.

My code is started by clicking a custom menu item that is defined using the custom-actions.xml file.

The menu item belongs to the context menu for objects of type EPMDocument.

Now, I need to show this menu item only for assemblies (docType = CADASSEMBLY), but not for

other types of EPM documents (i. e. drawings, CAD parts, etc.).

I found out that it was possible to define an "includeFilter" (a special Java class) that can be used

to dynamically show or hide a menu item.

My testing filter class looks as follows:

import com.ptc.cat.ui.client.action.ActionFilter;

public class MyActionFilter implements ActionFilter {

     @Override

    public boolean test(List<StructureModel> structureModels, View view) {

        // Decide whether the menu item shall be displayed and return true or false.

        return false;

    }

}

The filter must be registered as a Windchill service, so that it can be called.

My problem is, that I do not know how to register it. My filter never gets called.

Has anyone got any experience in this area?

Thanks in advance

customised ModeledAttributesDelegate is not being run on 'Add to Workspace' in v10.0 - why ?

$

We managed to get our customised copy of the ModeledAttributesDelegate working as expected in v9.1 M062 but now it only works some of the time in v10.0 M040, using the U-WGM for SolidWorks v2012. and the same behaviour appears to be happening with the embedded WGM in Wildfire4.

It clearly runs when executing "Save to Workspace", and with the Preference set for "Upload upon native save" = Yes, this action clearly ends with an Upload (and then a download), so we have confidence that it is compiled and has been made available as a service by the relevant addition to site.xconf (followed by xconfmanager -p, and restart of Windchill inc. clearing cache folders).

But it does not run upon "Add to Workspace" as it should, so when a file is checked in and deleted from a Workspace, then selected in Commonspace and Added to the Workspace once again, the values of the Attributes are not being updated from the server.

Further tests show that the delegate does run and produce the expected results in the SolidWorks file upon check-out, so it looks much more likely that it is a matter of triggering the delegate to run rather than there being an error in the delegate itself.

There are no clues in the Method Server log for the corresponding times.

Can anyone advise us on how to check and investigate this problem, and what settings control if or when the service is executed ?

We believe that something has changed between v9.1 and v10.0 that effects the ModeledAttributesDelegate, but what ?

Any help gratefully received

Nick

Anyone know how to resolve this error?  The error started after a revaulting operation failed.  It repeats frequently in the BackgroundMethodServer logs, quickly filling up disk space.  Disabling the Revaulting Queue does not make the erorr go away.

wt.util.WTRuntimeException: Cannot restore "wt.fv.RevaultingSession.40443108" because it no longer exists. Nested exception is:
