Can you some tell me the reason for not having the View attribute for editable in the "Edit" Layout.
I know it is available as a separate option from the action menu. Why should we not have it under "Checkout and Edit attributes" or "Edit common attributes"

I want to change the embedded broswer as internet expolorer 32 bit. I have changed the wgmclient.ini but within the workgoup manager the borswer is act as 64 bit. Could you please tell me how can I change the brwoser within WGM?@
Folder structure for our product:
Design
Manufacturing
Design Engineer creates part in Design Folder.
MBOM Creator open the part in Manufacturing Associate Part Structure Browser (MPSAB) and then creates a New Downstream Branch of the part. The default location for this is /Default of the Product which can be changed manually by browsing to required location.
We want to change this Default location to /Default/Manufacturing.
Please suggest steps.
I just want to know, if I send some drawings to other people for approval, the approver and me all do not use the PENTABLE, then the approver approve the request, the drawings released to FORMAL RERSION
What will be happen ? the dark lines will show up ? if the approver use the PENTABLE ? what will be happen ? or the dark lines depend on the Windchill ? the Windchill has been set default ?

The outside lines are dark and hard to review, I know I can use and set the “PENTABLE” to make the lines look more thin when I export the drawing to PDF.
But I want to know ,if I do not use the “PENTABLE”, other people release this drawing into “FORMAL” and individuals use a viewer, the “dark lines” will still show up ?
I was wondering once we put things into “formal” if the “dark line” would still show up?

Since this morning, when I want to rename a CAD document, the button "OK" doesn't work. I can click but nothing happen, the window doesn't close and the rename is not done.
Saturday, an installation of optional components has been done (ProjectLink, MPM Link...) and the problem was not present before.
Do you have an idea ?

- Windchill M010-CPS04
- No error in method server logs/apache logs
- Tomcat, InfoEngine caches has been cleared after installation

I have taken a backup from SQL server 2008 R2 and restored it in SQL server 2014. Now the database collation is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS. I have to change the collation to Latin1_General_100_CS_AS_SC. When I run the collation conversion utility, it prompted to enter the details like destination host name, instance name, db admin user name, db user name, default db and application name. When I enter all the details and hit the enter button, the window closed. Nothing happening. Please give me a solution as soon as possible.

What does the state POSTPRODUCTION mean?
A bit over a year ago we hired a brilliant company to configure our Windchill to the workflows etc. that we wanted. One thing we wanted was to do was map our parameters in Creo to Attributes in Windchill, so we could use them to search. So they created a bunch of attributes called MFG1_PN, MFG2_PN, MFG3_PN, MFG4_PN, which are supposed to be Data Type = String. But they accidentally made MFG3_PN "Boolean" data type.
When I log in a Admin and go to "Manage Global Attributes" I get all the listing as expected. But I can't edit the type from Boolean to String. I get that. I read it in the Help, so I understand why you couldn't be able to do that, it's totally different types of information. So I thought I could delete it and create it again as String data type. But nope, won't let me. I get this message:
(I should say I renamed it to "MFG3_PN_Obsolete", with the idea of creating a new attribute with the same name but String.)
Okay, what do I do? I believe there isn't a single Creo object in our database that has a value for this mapped parameter in it. The parameter is there, just empty. Some of our people have had trouble checking in objects because Boolean ain't a string. Even though the parameter is, as I said, empty.

We are limited to Java 7 because of Windchill 10.2. So I'd like to install Java 7 in a seperate Folder and use it only for Creo.

I have a requirement where a non org-admin users needs to have access to only type and attribute management under an Organization. He should not have access to anything else under organization. Please help with guidance with this customization.
We are in the process of planning and implementing Change Management in our Windchill environment. The goal is to utilize as much OOTB configuration as possible, and minimize customization to start.
Two area's we are looking for insight on are:
1) How to handle additional (uncaptured) changes
Lets say a user is assigned a change task (after Implementation plan approval), While implementing change to resulting objects, the user identifies additional changes (required and/or improvements) that are not captured in existing change objects.
Some ideas are we are considering:
a) amend the change notice + (Send to CIB for re-approval OR send directly to Audit depending on impact of change)
b) create new PR/CR and incorporate change at next release
2) Content of a change notice and change task
How have you structured change tasks and notices? We are debating guidelines for the amount of affected objects a change notice/task should contain and also the number of changes
When applicable, we are considering
a) 1 change notice per change detail (i.e change a screw for all affected objects VSchange a screw for several parts + change the length of an extruded part)
b) 1 change task per part number VS 1 change task for all affected PNs
Just looking to see if there are any strategies that folks have found beneficial or detrimental.

Here's a bit of background to supplement my main question.
I work for a small engineering/technology company that has settled upon PTC/Creo/Windchill as its CAD/PDM solution. Due to our size, I've had to assume the role of Windchill admin, and while I have eight years of experience from the user side of Creo/Windchill (ProE/Intralink) from my previous company, I'm currently lacking most of the database, programming, and IT knowledge necessary to competently administrate.
One of the reasons we ended up choosing PTC as our solution for CAD/PLM was our reseller's insistence that we could integrate our semi-intelligent part numbering system into Windchill and have it handle the generation of part numbers. Now that we've had the "roll out" and I've had time to pour through PTC Help Center, PTC Community, and all the reference documents, I'm realizing this might be a bit more difficult than originally expressed to us.
Our part numbering isn't overly complex. We a (2) alpha character prefix followed by a (5) digit incremental number (examples: PA10001, PA10002, RP10001, RP10002). With my naive understanding of the backend of Windchill, I envisioned work status ("in work", "released", "obsolete", etc) and soft types ("part", "assembly", "drawing", "ecad", etc) dictating the prefix nomenclature and then Windchill incrementing the number portion.
My question(s) is basically .... is this possible? If not is there something close to this that would work? Does anyone use Windchill for part number control in a non-"out of the box" configuration? If they do, how is it implemented?
The documentation I've found through PTC hasn't been the most helpful or provide the depth an admin with my lack of experience would need, but please point me in the direction of any helpful literature.

I am running eclipse from my laptop while Windchill runs in the server.
Everything worked fine until I had to switch from HTTP to HTTPS.
Now when I run anything I get the following error:

Dear Windchill Gurus,
Our company is going to consolidate the old Windchill 10.1 on Linux and Windchill 9.1 on windows server to a consolidated platform. But we need to choose between staying with the 10.1 with the latest Maintenance build or a higher version.
Is there a reliable version with good customer satisfaction rate so far after 10.1? I heard the Cloud solution is not that good.

I am trying to configure a 10.2 identical node type cluster with two nodes obviously one of which will be the active master.
As per the Advanced Config Guide (http://support.ptc.com/WCMS/files/156979/en/WCAdvDeployGuide.pdf), the 2 properties that need to be set are:
wt.rmi.server.hostname=A
wt.cache.master.slaveHosts=B, C, D
Both these properties are set. But when I start Windchill, the MethodServer will start only on that node which is started first. For Ex. if I start Windchill on Node # 1 first, the Server Manager and the MethodServer both come up on it. But on node # 2 which is started after node # 1, only the Server Manager starts and never goes beyond the following line:

No MethodServer on node # 2. If I go back to node # 1 and kill the Server Manager and MethodServer processes there, a Method Server process is initiated on node # 2 almost immediately. I believe whats happening is that the ServerManager on node # 1 starts and registers itself as the master (by putting the entry in the RMISTUBS database table). Then as per the expected functioning of a 10.2 cluster, the Server Manager on node # 2 appears to be waiting for the Server Manager on node # 1 to go down by checking the RMISTUBS table every few seconds and as soon as the SM on N#1 goes down it springs into action and starts a MS.
While this logic seems to be correct, I actually need the MS to start on N#2 as well while its SM is on the lookout for the SM on N#1 to go down. Isnt't that how it is supposed to be? Am I misssing something in the configuration here? Maybe something other than the 2 properties mentioned before need to be set?
