Using Solidworks, I opened a CAD file in my workspace.
I 'saved as' STL and PDF files, closed SW, but cannot see my files in workspace.
Where are these stored, I need to attach these to an email and want to have access to these. Is there a filter preventing me from seeing them?

In my Windchill configuration (9.1M060), I have only 1 site and 1 organization.
I want to load some ACL for my organization directly in command line with the LoadFromFile command within a WindchillShell.
First step
Create the XML file csv file with the CSV2XML utility : it's ok.
Following, a sample of the xml file created

Load the rules
From a windchill shell, i launch the folowing command :
windchill wt.load.LoadFromFile -d D:\ptc\Windchill\src\loadFiles\CDA_LoaderACL.xml -u <pwd> -p <pwd>
So, I obtain the error :

I want to change the embedded broswer as internet expolorer 32 bit. I have changed the wgmclient.ini but within the workgoup manager the borswer is act as 64 bit. Could you please tell me how can I change the brwoser within WGM?@
Hi all,
we created a test system and tried to rehost our production system (Windchill 10.2 M030 CPS03).
It worked fine with the user data (LDAP import successful) but we are missing all our products and objects. We can only see the newly created product.
Please see attached screenshot.
Does anyone have a hint what could have gone wrong during rehosting? Did anyone experience the same behavior?

I have a generic question - for installing PTC Navigate the installer guide from reference document states that we need to have an installation of Thingoworx, but is there a way that we can install Navigate without installing Thingworx?

I want to limit users from linking directly to the CAD objects (or other files for that matter). How can I set it so only WTparts appear when adding items to the Select Affected Objects section?

Wont it be handy to show to the user on what was the BOM Filter currently used to render the BOM? (Part structure).
It is often necessary to see BOMs with Baseline filter, and it is difficult to know which baseline filter used to render.
Preference / Properties?

We have large family tables of similar components that were, at one time, associated to WTParts. Over the years, inexperienced users who had intended to revise a single instance of the family table inadvertently bumped the revision of the entire family table without including the WTParts. Now we have large numbers of component models that have no WTParts associated with the latest version. This situation results in the part structure for any WTPart assembly that uses the unassociated part, to not match the structure of the model. I could go into each WTPart number, find the version that the object is associated with, disassociate it, check it in, then associate it the latest version, check it in, then compare model structure to part structure, and then check in again. Is there a faster way to fix this than using all of these steps? Is there a synchronization routine I can leverage?
Is it possible to use calculated attribute to find the difference between 2 date attribute? for eg: let say i have two attributes such as: due date and created date, i have to store the difference (in days) in another attribute of integer data type?

When I add to workspace an assembly that contain elements of a family tables, the system download all instances and not only those are used in assembly.
In this way I have often a lot of entity in my workspace not necessary and that make my system uselessly slow.

I am trying to modify our promotion request template which was copied from the OOTB windchill one to lock objects when they are raised up for promotion,a dn then unlocked after they are approved by config management approvers. I have a call into PTC tech support but they are dragging their feet as usual getting back to me. Does anyone have insight into how this can be done. I know that it is some type of robot, and from reading the help, it says you must use tranistion robots in conjuction with the locks, but I am just having trouble putting it all together. The default template contains locks, and unlocks already but not in the places I need them. I tried to copy them and put in line, but something just is not working right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm using WQS 11.0 M010 to estimate reliability of a mecahnical design. With mechanical license I'm able to enter part parameters and get failure rate for each.
But under torsion spring part, I noticed an abnormal pi factor (CL in this case) for spring displacement. It is 13500. I checked the displacement theoretically and it's OK. Actually its one third of static limit.
Then I calculated the associated CL by using NSWC - Handbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment Figre 4.13. It came out as 0.072!
I'm using degrees for displacement as stated in the reference guide of the software.
Then I checked all of the pi factors of mechanical parts using the same document. I found the same inconsistency for 4 other factors. These are; Cdc & CL for torsion spring, Ct for solenoid, Ccw & Cr for ball bearing.
How can it be possible? I can only imagine unit mistake, but I checked it wrt to reference guide.
Also if anyone can check these pi factors whether they are calculated normally or not?

I am a new user of Windchill PDMLink. I am exploring this topic and have read a couple of User Guide, SQL Queries and lot of discussions on this group.
Currently the below knowledge is scattered with me and I wanted help to understand them
I have come across some basic queries related to PDMLink:
1. FvVault and Vaults Topic:
In the Help Topics I have learnt to create a folder, vault, but I am not able to mount or link a folder to the created vault.
Is this true: Default, if we do not create the vaults manually, does PDMLink store everything onto "C:\ptc\Windchill_10.2\Windchill\vaults\defaultuploadrootfolder\defaultuploadrootfolder_Folder_1"
Do we need to create a vault structure for uploading the creo files from embedded browser (through workspace: upload CAD Documents process is known to me and could successfully do it).
2. I am basically curious to know how PDMLink stores the CAD Document (EPM Document) data. I have also checked EPMDocument, EPMDocumentMaster, EPMMemberLink, EPMReferenceLink tables (and uniqueLinkId, uniqueNDId).
3. I want to extract file path of each CAD Document on disk or know how to build this path.
For eg. In the DemoData of Golf_Cart, I could see some creo related files at
C:\ptc\Windchill_10.2\Windchill\loadFiles\pdmlink\demodata\GolfCart
Whereas, for Drive System, I am unable to get the location for the same.
I am able to extract properties like create date, modify date, file size, cadname, name, documentnumber, authoring application, docType, State, Version

We used to have an admin who knew a lot more about WindChill than the current people including myself, I just have some general questions I can't really figure out. We are going through and trying to removing old users. The first method thought of is to add the old users to an admin group, change their password, log in as them and then remove all their workspaces. One of our confusions is that we have probably 8, 9 different groups set up from years ago and don't understand why some have visibility to certain product libraries and contexts. We had to test everyone to find which ones had visibility of all library so that we could see their workspaces by logging into them so we could delete them.
The other method I'm thinking of trying is actually deleting the user using windchill's delete function and then removing their personal cabinet. Is there any issue with doing thing? Does that blow everything away? I know it asks about undoing checked out objects so I'd think it is deleting everything. The current admin who kind of fell in to the position said the old admin (who knew what he was doing) said not to do that so I'm a bit weary. Mind you these people will never be returning.
The next thing I've stumbled on is that as admin's we should be able to view other peoples workspaces under each context, however, we can't...with my limited knowledge we must need to alter the access control policies to give our admin group that ability? This is another grey area we haven't been able to get to work, how do we alter this? A while back we tried at the org level to change access but it didn't appear to work, do we have to be at the site level or something?
Dear Windchill Users,
We are planning to upgrade from Windchill8.0M030 to mostly 11.0 but before that facing the following error in new Windchill document creation.
New Document creation error:
For new active products as well as for products for which new document creation was working in the past, currently the new document creation is not working (New WTPart creation and checkin is working fine)
Create a new WTDocument in the PDMLink folders using the following menu and upload a plain text document.
ERROR:
There is no trace in the Method Server log after this error (log attached) This was working in the past. Please let me know why a library is required if there is an active product and if this is a client related issue and how it can be solved.

Is there a way to make an attribute conditionally required on the creation of a Change Request? Example: if Attribute 1 is set to TRUE Attribute 2 is now required. If Attribute 1 is set to FALSE Attribute 2 is grayed out.

Need to discuss the following scenario,
On querying for users using wcadmin- the user say for example “psachin” is found active as follows:
However the same user is displayed as “psachin(deleted)” as follows:
New in this role and not aware who has created these “(deleted)” users. Such “(deleted)” users cannot be queried using wcadmin login and Windchill UI. Also, we have certain CAD documents which are checked-out by such “(deleted)” users. The objects checked-out by such “(deleted)” cannot be searched using Windchill UI even using advanced search.
By the way…. this has been there before I started working in this role. Have now implemented the policy as recommended by PTC of not deleting a user and just changing their password and moving them to a group called “deactivated users”
But need to know HOW-
Windchill8.0M030(planning to upgrade soon)

I had been trying to create a Vendor Part from the new part window. But I am getting an error like

i was able to create a Manufacturer Part but not a Vendor Part. So can anyone help me regarding this ?
