How to collect and release multiple view versions in promotion request

We use Design View and Plant View for WTPart.  and attach specification document to both views -- as design view and plant view could be different spec.

 

When promoting the specification document to release,  it would collect related WTPart in the promotion process.  However, it would only collect the latest one revision of object --  i.e., not the latest of Design and Plant view revision but latest one either Design or Plant view depending which one was modified latest.  Even if manually collect both views in to promotion form, it says promotion can only deal with one version of object, and hence for me to choose between the Design View or Plant View.

 

Obviously the users do not like it, as they can only promotion one view with the spec doc revision (likely design view), and have to go to individual plant view to manually attach the newly release spec. document.

 

wondering anyone else having the same problem.

Anyone try the new PSM 5.0 F000 yet?

PTC released the PSM 5.0 F000.  Has anyone try it out yet?

 

I am currently testing PSM 4.0 M010 in Test env.  Not sure if I should wait for PSM 5.0 M010 (or later), or I should try F000.  I always try to avoid the F000 build code.

If anyone has try this, can you share your experiences?

After creating a New Project from a Project Template (Having a Document Structure), Document Structure is not propagated in the newly created project.

After creating a New Project from a Project Template (Having a Document Structure), Document Structure is not propagated in the newly created project.


Step 1 - A project was created


Step 2 - A document structure was created in it


Step 3 - This Project was saved as a Project Template


Step 4 - A new project using the above template was created


The Document Structure did not propagate in the newly created project. However, all the documents were propagated individually

Can anyone help me with a use-case to understand the integration between Adobe Livecycle Form Server & Windchill for managing Smart Forms (PDF's). The requirement is to pre-populate forms with Windchill business objects attributes & Workflow variable automatically.

PLM and SAP Integration

Hi,

 

We are looking to integrate Windchill PLM to SAP Integration. Our goal is transfer real time data (BOM, parts) to SAP. We are looking at options on what are the best options here.what are your thoughts on using SOAP based JMS queue concept?

 

We want to use SAP PI system instead of TIBCO and wanted to see if we need ESI framework in order to do real time integration?

 

Also what is the best way for error handling mechanism where in scenarios such as if sap pi server is down, can we monitor the failed messages from PTC PLM side and can we resend those message once the SAP PI is up.

Change Notice creation permission

I have been working through the Change Request workflow developed when Windchill was implemented in 2008 by another admin. He had the ability to create a Change Notice turned off, even though he had a node in the Change Request workflow to require them. I got the Profile modified to allow Change Notices to be created, and the option now shows up in Actions. However, when I select Create Change Notice, the screen opens and a message pops up saying "You do not have create permissions for the object". I looked in preferences and found nothig. What setting do I need to toggle to get the required permissions?

How to clear/remove the unsuccessful migration data from Data base

Am migrating a data from Pro/Intralink 3.4 to PDMLink 9.1 system using Pro/Intralink Data Migrator.  While running the Document loader I found the Revision Series mapped for migration was wrong. We noticed it within minutes and aborted the migration. Then I mapped the correct Revision Series and restarted the migration.

Now the Migrator took the right Revision Series and ran till Family Tables Loader. However we later noticed that 2 Family Tables did not get migrated as it threw an exception in the logs. While investigating that issue we found that some more objects did not get migrated at all though we couldn’t trace the errors in the logs for the missing objects.  Now we need to guidance to solve the issue so that we can proceed with the migration.

6.2.6 Software Compatibility:
Hello,
we are running windchill  6.2.6 on HP Unix 11 & oracle 9 and looking to upgrade the OS and oracle version to the possible upward compatible versions, can anyone suggest which could be the possible latest OS & oracle I can move on to continue running windchill 6.2.6.

I am looing for some reference who already tried and currently running this old server or have suggestions from their experience. Thanks in advance!!!

Two different Quantity columns in Material content report

In a Material content report , there are two columns (E & R) for quantity. The first one adds up the quantity of MPNs for that item. What do column R signify. It always show the value as 1 . Where is this value being picked from?

I'm interested to take the PTC Development Track courses which include:


1) Windchill 10.0 - Info*Engine


2) Windchill 10.0 ‑ ERP Connector Customization


3) Windchill 10.0 - Client Customization


4) Windchill 10.0 - Server Customization


5) Windchill 10.0 - Development Technologies Certification (Practical)


However, I'm fairly new to Java although I'm familiar with Object Oriented Programming in C++ and VB .NET.


How much Java do I need to know before taking up this track? Is it enough if I'm well versed with OOP?


Where would you place this track on a scale of difficulty (Low, Mid, High)?

File Name Save As History?

We have Windchill 10.1 M040. I'm trying to dig into when I made an update to some parts and where some new ones came from to correct them. I took a look at the history on windchill and it allows to view the save as history, however, it doesn't tell me the file name of the original object. It tells me the file name for things like revision history. Is this just a quirk or can I actually find the file name?

Windchill MS Office Worker question

We're trying to implement the Windchill MS Office worker. In doing so we're required to have Adobe Livecycle Server on the network and link the worker to it. This is for it's PDF generator functionality.


My question for the user base is:


Have any of you setup an MS Office worker before? Do you know if you're able to purchase only the PDF generator and use it, or do you need to purchase the entire livecycle suite? Experiences with the worker? Tips/Tricks?


We're looking to add value with this as we do not purchase Office licenses for every person working within Windchill and being able to view and markup office files in Creo View would be a huge plus.
