I am cloning a 10.2 M020 Server.But when I am done all the configuration and trying to start the windchill.I am getting following message in server manager and it gets stuck. Method server does not get launched.

All,

 

I'm trying to create hyperlinks to WTDocuments in a SharePoint site, and would like to find a way for the link to always point to the latest version of the WTDocument in Windchill (10.1 M040, about to go to 10.2 M030)..., is this possible?

I need ideas on how to get comments sent to all participants in a workflow.

 

Example:

We have a doc called Sales Call Report, basically it's a document that is filled out after meeting with a customer.  Then it's routed around to various departments notifying them of the visit and what transpired.  People have been commenting when completing task thinking that the comments are sent to the creator.....but they are not.  I have explained that the comments are viewable only if you go back in and look for them.  Is there a way to have the creator of the document notified if a comment is entered down stream in the workflow?

Hi all,

 

When I create a New View Version for a Part, I want to set it to follow a different LC Template (preset in OIR) , Now this seems not possible. It takes the LC template from the OIR of the Parts default View (Design).

 

What I want to achieve is to have one  LC template for the Design View and whole another LC template for Manufacturing View.

 

Isn´t this a fairly easy requirement and that's easy to achieve by OIR? Or is there any other means?

I'm just curious who has started using the new native task form templates in either their Production system, or their Test/Dev system.  Who has plans to start using them?

 

I just released them into our Production system last night.  I learned quite a few unexpected things along the way.  And in this discussion, I'd like to collaborate on best practices with both my implementation and your implementation (or any questions you might have if you're investigating these native task form templates).

Hi everybody,

 

I have set up a Windchill test system. Apart from the url in the adress bar, the testsystem looks like the productive system.

Is there a way to mark the test system as what it is - e.g. setting different colors. Perhaps the colors are made with a css-file in the backend?!

I am new to windchill imple. I did my implementation completely for my customer(Installation). Now i am configuring the CAD related things in Windchill like revision,Custom numbering etc.   Below is one of my requirement on workflow, they need the ecn number with out change request. If i initiate promotion request of the drawing it should go to reviewer and then Approver and got released as per workflow. But they need ECN number to be enter into the drawing sheet once promotion request initiated. Please give me one solution for that.

We can migrate a Windchill system from 9.1 to 10.2. However we can even upgrade the same.

 

So what makes the difference between Migration and Upgrade ? Can you please let me know the same.

I'm sure recently that I saw a topic in a document that indicated that I will need to utilize Oracle instead of SQL because the Data Migration Utility used for Intralink 3.4 to Windchill is not compatible with SQL?

    

Does anyone know what Windchill Admin User Guide I may have saw this in?

My company recently learned that PDMLink is in our future and I'm looking for information how to use a PTC PDM product to manage Solidworks files?

 

Is it realistic to start with a local installation of Windchill PDM Essentials as a short term solution and stepping stone to an enterprise wide PDMLink system? Will either of these systems accept Solidworks 2016 files?

Hi all,

 

As per the documentation, it states that..

We have turned this OFF, (Set as False) for some reason.

 

 

 

This functionality controls the copying forward of Representations to new

 

iterations of Representables (for example, Windchill Parts, Documents, Dynamic

 

Documents, and Windchill Document objects). The fundamental principle is that

 

Copy Forward applies only to out-of-the-box, non-derived Representations.

 

However, in the case of a Copy or Revise of a Representable, all Representations

 

(derived and non-derived) will be copied forward out-of-the-box. This behavior

 

also applies to Representables being checked out to a new context.

 

Our Requirement:

The representations should be carried forward when performing PDM Checkout to Project and Send to PDM  from the Project.

The representations should not get carried forward when performing a Revise in PDM contexts.

 

Since we have turned the carry forward OFF, we could not achieve our need, because it appears that for Revise , the Carry forward is HARD SET. Hence we switched off the carry forward, but we lost this functionality for PDM check out / Send to PDM.

 

It does not make any sense to carry forward the Rep on a Revise...because obviously, the content (and hence the representation) will be modified on a Revise (Popular scenario).

I don't understand why PTC has made this behavior..

 

Any thoughts on how to address our requirement (without any customization).

Hi,

 

I'm trying to install Windchill 10.2 M030 using the PSI, configured to created the Database schema in an existing Oracle 12c R2 SE2 database software only installation instance.

 

I had keyed in correct values of the Oracle 12c Home user password as well during the configuration steps in PSI for installation. But the PSI aborts the Installation pre maturedly during the step of Creating Oracle configurations and the installation fails. The OCU logs that the installation failure message prompting to isn't clear to trouble shoot.

 

Had some one faced any similar issue? Below is the snapshot of the error screen when the PSI aborts. Attaching the logs pointed in the error screen as well.

 

Appreciate any help that would assist me overcoming this issue. Thanks in advance!

Issue: Currently the number of items that can be added to the Windchill Clipboard is 250.  The request is to change the value to at least 1000.

This value can be change by executing xconfmanager -s wt.clipboard.limit =1000 -t codebase/wt.properties -p" in a Windchill shell.

Since this would be a category for site wide change, affecting many.

Question: does changing this limit size for buffer affect performance, in any way? Pros & Cons for consideration?

I am currently testing Windchill 10.1 and getting ready for implementation. I wanted to know which browser I should use to work best with Windchill 10.1 and Java.

 

I use Chrome for everything but I was not sure if IE or Firefox had any advantage with Java running smoother.

Hi Folks,

today I would like to start a short discussion about Family Table models (standard parts) used in Windchill.

 

What is your experience? Do you use Family Table models for standard parts in Windchill? ... or do you use only separated objects (one model per one material number)?

 

I do not want to speak about 5 instances in Generic models - I mean >> from 200 to 500 instances per one Generic part  - For example Screw with Hexagon head.

How to manage this huge Generic model and how to add new instance, set state for new object and update existing parts in different workspaces.

 

I waiting for your positive or negative answers.
