Is there any way to search for promotion requests? They will not pull up via a keyword search.
We have things broken into projects, so each folder has its own set of Promo Requests.
I would like to be able to search to make sure none slipped through the cracks without being approved.
This is how we manage PDM related ECOs for a particular company, so theoretcally, I'd like to be able to search for *ecoxxxxxx* and have it pull up.

Can anyone tell me the actual use of wt part, and also how to retrieve files using wt part?
I have extended the database and added some new attributes to the CR form. These are entered as radio buttons with Yes/No choices and one with a selection list of 8 items. When I go to create a new CR, these new attributes have 3 choices: Undefined, Yes and No with Undefined the default on a couple of them.
Where does the Undefined choice come from?
How do I make Undefined the default for all of my radio button items?
Related to this is the issue that the creator of the CR does not know the answer to all of these choices. We have added additional signoffs to the workflow that must be completed before it is approved for the Change Notice kickoff. Some of the users have Edit on the actions of the CR and some do not. They all need Edit to enable the Radio button choice and add comments to that section of the CR in a text box. I have checked that all users have identical LDAP setups. I am using Org Level Groups that I created for the Participants in the workflow. My workflow is at the Org Level as it is common between Product and Documents.
Any suggestions on where to look to resolve these issues would be appreciated.

I have a creo model, say my_screw.asm in Windchill. And I need to manufacture a blue screw and red screw that has two different part numbers.
How do we handle such use cases using windchill? Or another similar use case could be change in material.. where the model from a design perspective is one, but from a manufacturing point of view there are two or more different parts.
Can somebody recommend a way to handle?

We have Windchill PDMLink version 10.1 datecode M040, which according to PTC's release calendar falls out of standard support THIS MONTH. However, I'm having real trouble deciding which version to go to;
So, my main question primarily for anyone here who may have already installed 11.0:
IS IT STABLE?

Or is it safer for us to go to 10.2 (and if so which one) and wait for at least the M010 release of 11.0 scheduled for June?

I am getting an error while editing attachments from a workflow task using a task form template. The PBO used is a subtype of work package. The same user can edit the package if he tries the same action from package > attachments tabs.

Effectivity date for a particular part object can be checked by using edit filter criteria and specifying the date range. Now, for structure tab in documents there is no effectivity option in edit filter. Can anyone let me know how to configure windchill to view effective document in bom structure.@
We have multiple 10.2 Windchill environments (development, testing, staging) which are also clustered, some with multiple nodes.
We will compare the files being updated to make sure that we are good on our existing customizations and configurations.
We will also do some level of testing before executing the PSI on production.
1. Back up codebases on all 4 prod nodes
2. Run CPS PSI on cache master node
3. Fix permission on IE tasks (we have non default settings on some which get wiped out when running the PSI)
4. Back up modified cach master codebase
5. Move\rename pre-CPS codebases on MS nodes
6. Restore cache master codebase from step 4 on MS nodes
7. Update new MS node codebases with site.xconf from pre-CPS codebase and propagate properties
8. Fix Creo publishing configuratin on each MS node
9. Fix middleware credentials on each MS node
10. Restart and a quick technical checkout
Just focusing on these 10 steps for production it takes a good 4-5 hours.
Our management is interested in what others are doing in the area of Critical Patch Sets; how often (monthly, quarterly, etc.) and how long (in hours per environment).
Can you guys share how often and how long (please specify monolithic or clustered)?
So far in my 4 years as admin I have been creating a 1 to 1 relationship between attributes and global attributes. I just got a request to store, in one document, 40 serial numbers....can I get away with creating a global attribute called serial number and then keep selecting it as I create the separate attributes in the type manager? What is best practices?

Has anyone got Altium 16 working with WGM 10.2 m020 CSP18. I know it is not officially supported but they only go up to 14.
I'm trying to set the default description on a change task/change activity to be some static text. I can set a default value in the type and attribute manager, and that works... Unless the user enters any text into the change notice description first.
So I guess what I'm really trying to do is to STOP the description from the change notice being used to overwrite the change task description. I'd like whatever default value I determine for the change task to always show up regardless of the value of the notice description.
I've tried looking in the type and attribute manager, in the object initialization rules... I've been tearing through help files, PTC's support site, this forum, and so far I've had no luck. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!

Is there any mechanism that allows suppliers to get access to only "Supplier" contexts and nothing else in Windchill?
The purpose is to allow access to only "Vendor Parts" that is tagged to the supplier. This is needed to share "Released" Parts, documents, drawings and the necessary information to manufacture the part , this may vary between suppliers.

Is it possible to edit the Teamtemplate using Windchill API, I have teamtemplate and I have to add some new role and remove some roles from it
We need to configure a business process in which we are using the Default "Promotion Request Approval Process" that is available OOTB. We want to stop the users from selecting themselves as an Approver in the Promotion Process.
PTC Tech support said this isn't possible. But doesn't this kill the process by itself? When the process isn't fool proof to stop the user selecting himself as an approver what is the use of it then? Is this achievable through any configuration options?

In our RBD models we typically have multiple levels of indenture in the overall block diagram. It would seem that running at the top level should automatically run all lower levels to get the proper results. But it seems we have to run from the lowest level up individually to ensure there are results at all levels. When now not doing this some results disappear or reset from the RBD Table.
Is this a setting somewhere or has anyone else had success running all at once? Trying to determine what we might have done wrong.

One of our users selects a file's name to open the file and gets a screen that says Windchill error. The error also appears when the user selects check out and download. Anybody else seen this issue?

in the PTC Windchill customization guide (chapter 8) is a tutorial for adding attributes to a type.
I have a request to add two more informations to a WTPart. They are needed for a interface to a erp-system. My plan is to use the "Typ- und Attributverwaltung" (type- and attributeadministration) to add two more attributes to the type WTPart.
In fact I have no experience with customizing windchill and I have no test system. So I would appreciate your advice for my approach.
