Hide Part "View" in create UI, use OIR to set "View" to "Design"

Part masters,

 

We're finally deploying Parts and E-BOMs.  At this point just planning on using the OOTB Design View but having it be not selectable and not visible to users in the Part create screen.

 

What's the right approach for setting the View in the OIR and hidding the value in the UI?  Does anyone have a working example?

 

We've followed article below but got stuck with the OIR working.  The View isn't being set correctly.  We're talking to tech support but thought someone else would have this working

Creo View in Windchill 10.2 and IGES/STP files

Hello,

I have a problem with opening IGES and STP files in Creo View from windchill. While viewing some drawing representation I see that .igs file is added to Drawing tab, but after opening it, the page is empty. I don't have this problem after saving the represetnation to hard disc and then opening it from standalone aplication. The same situation is with .stp file.

Any idea what is the reason of that behaviour? Did I missed something in the implementation or maybe some properties are required?

Server_Prefs.xml

Having issues with downloading the server_prefs.xml file from the Visualization Configuration Administration UI.  Does anyone know where on the server this file is located...I'll just go get it manually via Windows Explorer.

WTPart attachments

Does anyone know the history with the WTPart Attachment table? It's available to add, but when trying to edit, it says no authorization. Is this residual functionality that PTC has moved away from? We see a value in utilizing the attachments on WTparts for data we don't want as separate objects in the database (we don't want to control it) that is supporting information (like a quote).

 

Any infromation or help would be MUCH appreciated!!

BOM Notes

I am trying to use BOM notes, but I cannot get the Note Status to show correctly in my uses table.  The note symbol only shows in the column if there is a note against that part, not if there is a note against the BOM (usage).  Does anyone who uses notes in Windchill know how I can make the symbol show up when there is a note against that item in the BOM?  I am on Windchill 10.1 M040.

Specifying EPM sub type in OIR in WC 10.1

Is it possible to specify the EPM sub-type in WC 10.1 using an OIR?   With a multi org WC installation there will be a different EPM doc types for each org.   So if a user from org A creates a Pro/E model it is assigned the EPM sub type for org A.   PTC documentation states to use the paramemter UPLOAD_SOFT_TYPE to specify the sub type.    This will be difficult because a few orgs import a lot of new CAD data from design partners.

What is the Primary key and foriegn key between WTDocument and WTPart table in Windchill PDMLink

Is there a way to create a new table view and default that view for all users?

In WC 9 we were able to create a view as WCADMIN and setting it as default would set it for all users.  This does not appear to work for 10.2 M030.  Ideally we would like to use the load file functionality to load and set the default.  The example I am looking at is setting the table view on the affected items table on a Change Task.

is there a way i can delete an product with instance incorported


it is very useful to use part configuration and part instance to trace the specific product in the service, but i can not delete the product data from the system once it is incorporated even it has pass the end date.

 

has anyone knows how to delete the product from the system when it is not used in the service anymore?

One-Off Version Question

We are trying to create a process for using One-Off versions to identify a modification to a part in the structure. The problem is the One-Off version A-1, A-2, A-3 etc. will not show as a child to the parent. The WTpart always displays as the latest not the One-Off.

Does anyone know how to have One-Offs show as the latest?

Monolithic to Cluster in 10.2 M030

Hello All,

 

We are planning to configure our existing monolithic WC 10.2 M030 to Cluster environment. I have gone through WCADVDeployguide for 10.2 M030 and finalized that we will go for identical node configuration.

 

But to configure this, we are having two basic question:

1) how to configure Apache Load balancer during Testing/Trial phase. later we will use hardware load balancer

2) when we are running PSI on existing setup, we are not getting enable cluster support option. I do not know how to start if we have to configure our existing WC into cluster.

 

Please let us know the steps from start if anybody have already configured identical clustering in 10.2 M030.

Find all EPM Documents without Visualisation

Hi Community,

im trying to figure out a way to find all EPMDocument without a created Visualisation. Which Database Fields hold the information about wheather a visualisation is created or not?

Batch print PDF from PTC Places

Hello all Windchill users.

 

Have a question about batch print PDF from PTC places.

 

Current state:

- PDF stored in PTC places (see folder structure below)

- in this state we can individualy open each PDF and print it

- together 250+ PDFs need to be printed

 

Idea 01:

- copy all PDF to local disk and print it with usualy way ---> too much work ---> time loosing way

 

Idea 02:

- print PDFs directly from PTCplaces ---> batch print isn´t allowed .

 

Professional way:

Could you give me some tip how to do it effectively? What is the professional way?

 

WCH/PTC Places config options:

- are there any options in conjunction to batch print, that l should know?

 

Note:

- PDFs are different sizes (A4, A3, A2 papers)

Publish only .DRW on state change

Good Afternoon.

 

Currently we publish all items on state change through setting:

 

"publish.republishonepmdocumentchange=true"

 

The reason we want to publish on state change is so that the state attribute that we have placed in the border of .DRW files is up to date in Creo view. e.g. In Work, Under Review etc...

 

The above setting works a treat however when you publish a large promotion request it takes a long time to get through all of the jobs in WVS Job Monitor as it is publishing PRT and ASM files as well.

 

Is there any way to filter this so it only publishes .DRW files on state change but still publishes .DRW .PRT and .ASM on check in??

 

We are currently using Windchill 10.1 M030 and Creo M130

SQL Query to find out BOM

Dear community,

I need to find out what database tables store the information about the bill of material of the products. Need to find out the top level nodes and all linked epm documents or parts.

 

What we try to do is get the files of all products so we can Export all products from windchill.

Adding an Attribute for Change Request pt.2

I am working on extending the information we need in our Change Request form. I ran the AddColumns command specifying 1 string column. When I checked the WTChangeRequest2 table, there were 5 added columns, but only 1 was named. The name is: ptc_str_1TYPEINFOWTCHANGEREQUEST2. My questions with the Oracle portion of adding an attribute are:

1) Can this column name be renamed into something practical or doesn't it really matter?

2) Can the other 4 columns be utilized or does the AddColumns command utilize these 4 columns if I need to add more?

 

Now of the Type Attribute issues. I went in and added a new attribute and that shows up fine in the list of attributes. I defined a series of statements that we will use to select from. The added information is for the disposition of existing material. I want it to be radio boxes so the author can check one or more of the 7 disposition statements. I would also like an 'Other' radio box with a comment field for the Other reason, if needed. When I process a new change request, all I get is a comment box for the disposition, not the radio buttons are even a drop down list, which I tried first. Questions are:

1) How do I get the Change Request form to display the disposition(s) with radio buttons so one or more may be selected?

2) How do I get a comments field if the Other disposition type is selected? The comments field can be there anyway, if needed to be.

3) How do I adjust the placement of the disposition field in the Change Request form? It comes in at the very bottom by default.

 

Not sure that is all, but it will get me started towards finishing this change.
