While Activating workspace it take 3 to 6 minutes to users some time. In genral all the time the activation takes longer after restart of the client machine. What kind of tuning to be done to improve this transction performance?

Moving objects between PDMlink systems
Hi all,
we are running 2 seperate PDMlink system in 2 sepertate divsiions,
I now need to transfer creo files from PDMlink1 to PDMlink 2.
Thing is the transfered files woudlwould all be recognied as 'new' in the target system
Is there a method to moveitems to include all revision sscheme lifecycle state and meta data in general?

Upload and check in problem
My Check In to Windchill fails, and I get this error “No more than one attribute value is allowed”. This assembly has been checked in earlier, all I did was to check it out and make some drawings. There are no errors, model is green.
Anyone has seen this message before, or could help me understand why it shows?

For that, I have to delete the last version of the generic 501109.
But the system doesn't accept! see the message attached...

Are Change Tasks really not searchable Objects?
I have not been able to find a clean was to simply search for a Change Task by Task number outside of Query builder. The Change Task is not an object available in the Advanced Search. My recommendation is to make a Change Task Object searchable. To locate a task by Change Notice Implementation Plan is a long way round.

Hold Change Task Until Another Change Task Has Been Resolved
Since we write so many CN's and some of them have an order that they need to go in, I am being asked how can Windchill stop a certain change task from passing certain stages before a different change task that needs to be resolved first gets finished. These are on different CN's of course. The problem is that we used to a have an in-house CN system that we could fill out and this would catch that.
Let's say that I have CN's 00200, 00210 and 00300. Let's say that 00200 and 00300 need to come before 00210 (yes, they will write one after one that should come before an earlier one). Is there any way for this to be accomplished in Windchill? This all needs to be done in the Change Task.

Windchill 8.0 M030 to Windchill 10.2 M020 Upgrade
We have identified two approaches to get to the target environment.
1) Windchill 8.0 to 9.1 M070 then Windchill 9.1 M070 to 10.2 M020
2) Windchill 8.0 to 10.1 M050 then Windchill 10.1 M050 to 10.2 M020
PTC official upgrade documentation states that "Install the LDAP server. When upgrading from release 8.0, you must use Aphelion for the upgrade and migrate Windchill Directory Server after the upgrade is complete."
PTC Article CS20502 emphasizes on the above statement.
So far, we have been able to import LDIF (successfully) from WC 8 into WC 10.1 with a few tweaks (after converting to Windchill DS format) and we're apprehensive about getting into issues with this during/after running the upgrade manager.
Any suggestion with known issues, risks and rewards?

CAD Data Management Diary Study
The Windchill CAD Data Management and UX teams are working towards improving the User Experience, and getting customer import is vital to that import. We know that committing time to take part in UX tests or even customer visits is not always easy to do, so we are investigating other ways to gather information with minimum customer effort.
This diary study is one of those means. We have determined the list of most common PDM actions for CAD users managing their data in Windchill. We have validated that list at TC's and through qualitative customer interviews, but we would like to gather some quantitative data on those common actions using a diary study.
This diary study requires that you answer the same questions over a period of 2 weeks about your most common PDM actions when working with CAD data. Filling out the survey will only a few minutes after the first time.
The only requirements are:
- You use Windchill to manage CAD data (Creo or other CAD tools)
- Your ability to fill out the same survey (via Google forms) for most of the days over two week period.
We do ask for an email address, but that address will be used to group responses. We will only contact you with additional questions if you agree to be contacted in the study.

Display Windchill documentation at the Shopfloor
I am looking for a cheap solution to display Windchill information at the Shop Floor based on input of a barcode scanner. We would like to display part information and documents (drawings, norms, Shop Floor work instruction, etc) to work paperless at the Shop Floor.
Anyone having experience with bringing Windchill information to the Shop Floor without a full blown MES solution?

"CAD part is not unique"
Hi
We have more than 20,000 library parts, out of that 15,000 part successfully moved into windchill library folder .
The remaining 5000 parts when I am moving to windchill from local drive, it is showing "CAD Part is not unique".
Because of this issue , we were not able to upload the assembly .
Windchill implementation team working on this issue last one month but still not able to find the root cause.
Note:Those 5000 parts are not present anywhere inside windchill.

MAJOR repeat region table issues, "Fixed" indexes changing themselves.
Ok, since we have our BOM's in another database, I need to go into the dwg BOM and make it reflect the numbering scheme in that system. So, I try and "Fix index" on an index-by-index basis....and it decides to change what I've done when I do an "Update" on either the sheets or in the ribbon tab. I finally found I had to fix every index, then fix the entire region to make it work. Then I needed to add a view of a simplified rep, with a BOM table specifically for that view, but with the 4 parts numbered the same as the master rep. I CANNOT make it work. It keeps changing a couple components indexes. EXTREMELY frustrating. I'm trying to show to management that this is the way to go and establish this as policy instead of using dumb tables, and wasting time with this is an absolute nightmare. The absolute worst thing at the worst time. Now, a couple of parts are flexible, but I got them to work on the master reps so it should work elsewhere. I can't isolate that they're the issue, but thought I'd mention it.
Getting REALLY tired of all the bugs and issues.
Anyone else seeing this? Any solutions?

Trying to change the Organization Internet Domain name
I just installed Windchill 10.2 and discovered that the Organization Internet Domain name was incorrect. Following an instruction document from PTC (CS115451) that gives instructions on how to change this internet domain name after installation, I found that not everything was changed. I change the Internet Domain for the Organization Principal and the entry in site.xconf that specifies the SiteOrganization.internetDomain property (all per the instructions). The problem I'm having is that the Types are not getting changed like the instructions indicated. The soft types under EPM Document and Model Item are not reflecting my new internet domain name. I was able to edit the soft types under Document and change the name, but the ones under EPM Document and Model Item do not allow me to change the name via Edit.
Has anybody run into this situation with Windchill 10.2? If so, what did you do? I am currently working with PTC Tech Support to get this resolved, but I thought I'd ask the community also.

Windchill PDF/DXF export file name

our company is implementing Windchill and l wanna ask you about drawing exports. Our saint rule in WCH is: EACH FILE ONLY ONCE!
But up to now my praxis was fallowing: During the project progress l exported PDF, send it to my chef via email, afterwards he marked some changes and send it back to me. l made all necessary changes and the circle continue again and again ...
25.2.2014 --- export drw to PDF and saved it to sudirectory ...export / 2014_02_25 / 15009_V01-00_00_00.pdf
30.2.2014 --- export drw to PDF and saved it to sudirectory ...export / 2014_02_30 / 15009_V01-00_00_00.pdf
My first question is: What name schema for exports (PDF, DXF) should l choose?
1. Show a revision and version of source drw? ---> 15009_V01-00_00_00_A1.pdf ---> don´t think it´s a good idea
2. Show a datum of creation? ---> 15009_V01-00_00_00_2015_02_30.pdf ---> don´t think it´s a good idea ---> if l will do 2 exports in same day, it will doesn´t work
My second question is: What are your expiriences and praxis with file naming?
